While the subject of American army casualties in the IRGC attack on Iraq's Ain al-Assad base is still under the attention of experts, recently the details of the damage caused to the famous "Nighthawk" fighter have been revealed after 22 years.
3 years ago, on the morning of January 18, 2018, and in response to the great crime of the American government and army in the martyrdom of the great commander of Iran and the world, General Qassem Soleimani, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force fired several precision-guided missiles from the west of the country into American airbase. This operation was carried out at 1:20 in the morning, which is the same time when the vehicle carrying general Soleimani and his companions were targeted, to be the beginning of revenge for the martyrdom of the beloved commander of the people of Iran and the world of resistance forces.

As Major General Salami, the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, announced at that time, Iran's response to this American terrorist act and the attack on Ain al-Assad was a "strategic" but "limited" action that had global effects, because the Islamic Republic of Iran must stop American terrorists somewhere and make them understand that they should revise their calculations in front of Iran.

Which Iranian missiles were fired at American terrorists?

Like other punitive operations of the Revolutionary Guards corps, the surface-to-surface missile units were at the tip of the attacking arrow, and based on the images, it was found that two types of Qiam missiles and a product of the Fateh family, named Fateh-313, were used in this attack. Fateh-313 was unveiled by the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Support in August 2014, and in fact it was a new generation of the Fateh-110 missile family, the specifications of this missile are almost the same as its predecessor, the Fateh 110 missile, and the weight changes are small. The main difference of this model is its pinpoint accuracy and the 500 km range. In the design of this surface-to-surface missile, in addition to body stylization, an advanced generation of solid fuel, composite and sensor propellants designed with indigenous knowledge has also been used.

Fateh 313 missile

Qiam is also the first Iranian ballistic missile designed in the mid-range category, and it is considered the result of 25 years of efforts and experience of the country in the field of ballistic liquid fuel missiles, which by combining creativity, innovation and courage in implementing new designs and abandoning of the old and traditional plans were created until that time. This missile, whose design is completely indigenous, was unveiled on August 29, 2009. According to the defense officials, the initial idea of this missile was given to the industry by martyr Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam to develop and build a medium-range missile to be aimed at American bases around Iran.

The main difference between the Qiam missile and other Iranian ballistic missiles is the removal of the stabilizers from the end of the body. These blocks, which are seen in the shape of a right-angled trapezoid in all Shahab, Qadr and Sejjil ballistic missiles, and even the Safir and Simorgh satellite launchers, play an important role in creating the missile's stability, but in Qiam missile, without relying on the above blocks, all The task of creating stability is the responsibility of the control systems with the same actuators installed at the output of the liquid fuel engine.

Qiam missile

In fact, with the mass production of the Qiam missile, a missile with the dimensions of Shahab-1 and 2, but with a much greater range and the ability to benefit from new and diverse warheads, has emerged. The weight of the Qiam missile warhead is mentioned in some sources as 645 kg, and in the latest news about the country's missile developments, the ability to carry various types of warheads, including raining warhead, for the Qiam missile has been announced. Qiam missile is also capable of firing from underground silos. Of course, during the attack on ISIS in 2017, the Iranian Qiam was launched with a new look and from a mobile launcher.

The attention of world famous analysts to the accuracy of Iranian missiles
One of the important questions of public opinion inside and outside the country regarding this attack was its result and the amount of damage caused to the American occupiers. The satellite images that were published after this attack showed the high accuracy of Iranian missiles and this accuracy was so high and admirable that even Western experts and media could not pass by it. Yipin Narang, an American expert on military affairs and professor of security studies at MIT University, wrote in this regard on Thursday:

"Jeffrey Lewis", a professor at the "Middlebury International Studies" Graduate Institute and an analyst at the "James Martin Center for Non-Proliferation Studies" think tank, analyzed Iran's missile operations and the targeting of the American terrorist military base in Ain al-Assad on his Twitter account. While sharing a picture of the points targeted by Iran's ballistic missiles and the amount of damage caused to the base, Lewis wrote: "Iranian missiles destroyed several buildings/infrastructure at Ain al-Assad Air Base." In another tweet, he emphasized: "The Iranians did not make a mistake." These buildings were targeted with high precision."

In the report of those days, the famous American media, the Washington Post, also mentioned the words of Fabian Hinz, one of the experts of the Middlesbrough Institute of International Studies in California, USA. He says: In the last few years, what we see in Iran is a change from missiles that were mainly political or psychological weapons to weapons that are real tools on the battlefield. This is a quantum change. (Quantum change means a big and important change).

Another important part of this report in the Washington Post is related to the order of the leader of the revolution regarding the accuracy of Iranian missiles. In this regard, this newspaper says: "Increasing the capability of Iran's missiles is the result of a change in orders nearly a decade ago by Ayatollah Khamenei, as a result of which Iran invested a lot in its scientific sector to develop guidance systems. spent on missiles, and this caused the Iranian missiles, which at that time were mostly based on the Scud series that were used during the war with Iraq, to be significantly upgraded. The Iranians built new missiles and upgraded old models as well."

Documentation to prove the human losses caused by the IRGC missile attack

Although the American army and statesmen tried to completely hide the loss of lives and casualties of their forces in this attack and did not allow any media to enter until the following days, but in the early hours of Iran's attack on the American base in Iraq, the relevant information A special flight was revealed in the media, which showed the extraordinary flight of a C-17 transport plane from Iraq to Germany on an air ambulance mission.

The flight of an American transport plane as an air ambulance from Iraq to Germany

According to this information, hours after the IRGC missile attack, the American strategic transport plane 37 with flight number BNDGE53 and with the mission of air ambulance left Baghdad and went to Ramestein Air Base in southern Germany and landed there. America has very well-equipped medical facilities in that area, where a large part of the American troops who are injured during the conflict in West Asia or Africa are transferred there.

At the same time, the operation of a heavy-weight and high-capacity aircraft like the C-17 in the role of an air ambulance showed a significant number of injured. On the other hand, after years of presence in Iraq, when the Americans have clearly established sufficient medical facilities in this country for their forces, the transfer of the injured to a place such as the US Air Force Medical Center in southern Germany shows that the condition of the injured is very serious, which requires They have special and urgent medical services or the fact that they don't want to inform the Iraqi side or the countries in the region about the response of our country's missile forces.

In addition, Al-Qabas newspaper revealed in its issue of January 19, 2018, that 16 American soldiers who were seriously injured in the Iranian missile attack on the Ain al-Assad base in western Iraq, were sent for treatment and advanced surgery a few days ago. They have been transferred to one of the military hospitals in "Arifjan" region in the south of Kuwait.

America's long history of hiding casualties to the military

Although some people may think that the US military, finally, a few days after each incident, will reveal its details, but the evidence and documents show that sometimes the concealment of the truth has continued for decades. Information published in recent days about the fate of a famous and expensive American fighter, shows that whenever the prestige and credibility of this force is questioned, they will do their best to hide the reality. For example, for years there was a rumor among military experts that how many famous F-117s were targeted in the 1999 NATO airstrikes over the former Yugoslavia?

The new report of the War zone specialized base on the concealment of the hit of the second "Nighthawk" bomber.

Over the past 20 years, the answer to this question, based on the official information published by the American military and media, was only 1 plane, which could not be denied because it was shot down on the soil of that country and placed in the National Museum of Belgrade. But in recent days, a retired US Air Force pilot officially confirmed that in addition to the stealthy first plane, which was shot down on March 27, 1999, another F-117 was shot down on April 30 of the same year by Yugoslavia's defense systems, but because its pilot was able to bring his bomber to the air base on German soil, the hit and the broken reputation of the very expensive and famous American project was hidden for more than 2 decades.

Previously, in the spring of 2018, 13 international organizations sent a letter to "Patrick Shanahan", the then Acting Secretary of the US Defense Ministry, asking the Pentagon to stop releasing important information related to Afghanistan's security situation. According to these international institutions, war information is vital for the American people to understand the situation in Afghanistan. These organizations also expressed concern about the decision of the US Army to hide information about the amount of areas under the control of the Afghan government and the Taliban.

During the Vietnam War in 1968, the soldiers of a reconnaissance platoon of the American army committed a great crime in a village, during which 347 to 504 civilians from South Vietnam were killed by American soldiers on suspicion of collaborating with the Viet kong. This event became known as the May Lai massacre worldwide. Most of the civilian victims were women and children. Before the murder, some of the victims were tortured and mutilated. After the truth was revealed, all the members of the American unit involved in this incident were found not guilty, and the court's argument was that they followed orders. Only the acting squad commander was sentenced to prison, and he was released after serving three years of imprisonment. The documents of recent years have exposed the concealment of the US military in the reports related to the massacre of some Iraqi families in the last decade.

After the IRGC missile attack on Ain al-Assad, the Pentagon, after a few days of concealment about the casualty figures, finally announced that only 11 American soldiers suffered "mild concussions" as a result of this missile attack, and even Donald Trump acknowledged these injuries. It had reduced to the point of a headache, but in the following, the officials of the American army increased the number of injured forces from the Iranian missile attack on Ain al-Asad to a total of 110, and at the same time, they admitted that some of the injured people suffered from a more severe type of brain injury known as TBI. Having said that, at least for the next two decades, we have to wait for the release of new documents and information from the results of precision Iranian missiles fired at Ain al-Assad; Although revenge against the main perpetrators of this crime is still on the agenda of the security and military institutions of our country and sooner or later it will be realized.

After this attack Trump was found with his pants down, the reason why he tried to downplay the attack in his speech and deny major causalties inflicted on NATO forces esp American forces was warnings of military asvisors who warned him of grave consequences of escalation.

I don't want to downplay this attack but the fact remains that Iranians got so much paranoid that they blew a commercial aircraft out of the sky that day. Americans knew the attack was coming, transporting missiles could never be hidden from satellites and other US assets in the region. However, it is my personal opinion that Iran needed a face-saving after the taking out of one of its top general by the US. The US escalated and then de-escalated on its own terms.
If not then even if we agree that the US suffered casualties does not equate to the killing of a top General. A proportionate response would have been taken out an equal rank US General.

Yeah that revenge attack was more like for show. Iran still remembers "Praying Mantis" and prudently decided not to engage Americans while being wide open vulnerable to counter attack. The tone of Zarif's tweet says it all, that Iranians quickly wanted to move on and "won't have" pursued further action.

I agree that this attack was not enough to take the complete revenge.

The airliner that got shot down was because of wrong estimation of outdated radar of a Tor M-1 system. According to the operator that pressed the button, he was warned by high ranking generals that it is possible Americans fire cruise missiles from Persian Gulf to major cities of Iran and all the air defense crews must remain at the ready with fire at will permission issued. The approaching angle of the airplane was almost zero to the Zenith of radar and hence the operator recognized it as a low flying cruise missile at near-cruising speed of a cruise missile.

Iran had informed Iraqi governemnt of an imminent attack on Americans, that's true and that was why Americans had gathered their forces from every base into Assad base keeping in mind that the base was the safest base amongst American airbases in the region protected by advanced air defense systems which in the past hosted high ranking American officials from government to military.

For example Russia also has great stallite capability but the mobile systems like HIMARS can still do their operations without being shot in the process.

I say it again, this wasn't complete revenge and it is pending approval.

First of all, as a Pakistani whose countrymen were being bombed by American drones without any response, you have no authority and no place to undermine Iranian response. Iranian general was martyred on foreign soil, American terrorists didn't dare to face with him on the battlefield nor inside Iranian territory, he was invited by Iraqi governors and hosted by Iraqi figures.

And the dumbs like you always forget that praying mantis was started when Iran was engaged with Iraqi military supported by Soviets and France. Despite that, Americans were rebuked as a consequence of it and their vessels were targeted for mutiple times.
