Delhi: Two Indians are among 39 people killed in Turkey's Istanbul terror attack.

The deceased Indians have been identified as Abis Hasn Rizvi, son of Former Rajya Sabha MP and noted builder of Bandra in Mumbai Akhtar Hasan Rizvi, and Khushi Shah from Gujarat.

Abis Rizvi was CEO of Rizvi Builders and had produced a number of films including the 2014 movie Roar: The Tigers of the Sundarbans.

The External Affairs Minister also spoke to families of both Rizvi and Shah and conveyed her condolences. The External Affairs Ministry has also arranged for visa of the family members of the two deceased who are leaving for Istanbul.

"I have just spoken to Mr Akhtar Hassan Rizvi father of Abis Rizvi. He and Mrs Rizvi also want to go to Istanbul. We r organising their visa. I have also spoken to Shri Ashok Shah father of Ms Khushi Shah and conveyed our condolences," Swaraj said.

A family member of Khushi said her brother Akshay Shah and cousin Hiren Chauhan are flying to Istanbul without visa and brought it to Swaraj's attention to which she said their their visa has been arranged.

Swaraj said the Indian envoy to Turkey Rahul Kulshreshtha has been asked to receive the families at the airport and make all necessary arrangements.

Expressing his condolences, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Turkey on the tragic loss of lives in Istanbul."

The two Indians are among 15 foreigners who have been killed when a gunman went on a rampage at the waterside Reina nightclub where revellers were celebrating the New Year.

A gunman reportedly dressed as Santa Claus stormed an Istanbul nightclub as revellers were celebrating the New Year.

The assailant shot dead a policeman and a civilian at the entrance to the Reina club, one of the city's most exclusive nightspots, and then went on a shooting rampage inside, Turkish officials said.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said the attacker escaped and was now the target of a major manhunt, expressing hope the suspect "would be captured soon", as per AFP.

"The attacker - in the most brutal and merciless way - targeted innocent people who had only come here to celebrate the New Year and have fun," Istanbul governor Vasip Sahin said at the scene on the shores of the Bosphorus.

Many revellers threw themselves into the water in panic and efforts were under way to rescue them, NTV television said.

Dogan news agency said there were two gunmen dressed in Santa Claus outfits, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Television pictures showed party-goers - including men in suits and women in cocktail dresses - emerging from the nightclub in a state of shock.

Sahin said the attack began at 1:15 am today (local time), just after hundreds of revellers had seen in 2017 at the club in the Ortakoy district on the European side of the city.

"What happened today is a terror attack," he said.

Dogan reported that some witnesses claimed the assailants were "speaking Arabic" while NTV said special force police officers were still searching the club.

There has been no claim of responsibility.

The attack evoked memories of the November 2015 carnage in Paris when Islamic State jihadists went on a gun and bombing rampage on nightspots in the French capital, killing 130 people including 90 at the Bataclan concert hall.

From Sydney to Paris, Rio to London, security had been boosted over fears that the New Year festivities could present a target for violent extremists.

funny isn't it? such attacks (bombing absolutely innocent people) are increasing while it is obvious our 'allies' are becoming more and more dissatisfied with us, are openly housing terrorists on their soil and openly support pkk in syria against us, US tried to do a coup last year, just when Turkish-Russian ties were becoming normal again someone (a gulenist) had to kill the Russian ambassador (fortunately both Turkey and Russia knew it was a plot to harm ties) etc., and then this must be just just coincidence?

People like you like to complain about 'kutuplasma', but when it comes to it you are equally doing it, if not worse. Don't immediately believe that this has anything to do with 'Aleppo and agenda', it's not even known who he is. Syrian war and the suffering there has been going on for years, if i have to believe you, suddenly all these sensitive pricks woke up in the last quarter of 2016? cmon. Exactly by giving this reaction to other fellow Turks they try to make the society dislike each other, you know this. We saw this during the isis bombings of Kurdish people too, hdp immediately blamed the govt as usual. By provoking each segment of the society against the govt they try to create chaos. I seriously can't grasp whether people are blind or something to not being able to see that the US is literally trying to screw us over.

1. Thats a bitch much conspiracy theories
2. The government is the one who's inciting hatred towards different groups. Since when was it an issue to celebrate new years in Turkey? Black propaganda everywhere including Diyanet. Spreading lies that people are celebrating Christmas, even though they dont. You cant deny those things. With the control of media Erdogan has, there is no way that this is not orchestrated.
3. Did you check social media? How man disgusting people say that they deserved it, because they were celebrating new years or drinking? Do you believe the police will be as hard to them as it was against those PKK sympathizers after the Besiktas attack?

We're averaging 1,5 terror attacks per month, since June 2015.
How many heads have rolled? Changes in politics? In Police? In MIT? Nothing. These guys are fucking incompetent. This might be the worst security crisis in the history of the Turkish republic and no one is doing anything.

Manhunt still going on ......?????

Thats what happens when political Islam fuels animosity towards people who want to celebrate the ending of an old year. Its the same with Aleppo and the Russian ambassador. You push your hatred filled ageda 24/7 on all those TV stations you control and then you wonder why something like this happens. We always had cowards in our country, but this government of cowards is bringing the worst of it out of our Comars.

Every second day another attack somewhere and every second one is a religious motivated one. I dont know people either a lot of Muslims have serious issues with reading their holy book or maybe the book isnt good after all.

RIP to all those deceased young people who were harming no one and nothing.
Of context question to you . Kemalist see Gulen state enemy ?

Of context question to you . Kemalist see Gulen state enemy ?

Kemalists have seen Güllenist as a threat since the 90s and it was Erdogan who embraced Fetullah Güllen and brought his people into powerful positions. It was his government that was in bed with him when bogus cases were opened against dozens of Kemalist generals in order to replace them with Güllencis and Erdogan loyalists.

This the result of putting terrorist ikhwanjie dogs like erDOGan in power

This ikhwanjie opened his borders to terrorists now Turkish Republic is paying for this traitor act he should be executed

In present turmoil , do you see any future for Kemalist. Because what i read , may be limited, that Kemalist has much more experience in dealing the foreign affairs and tame down NATO and EU mood in the past. Many situation they won full backing from NATO and EU support against Greeks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today described as “barbaric” the terror attack in Istanbul and said India stands by Turkey in this time of grief. “Heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Turkey on the tragic loss of lives in Istanbul,” he tweeted.

“We strongly condemn the barbaric attack and stand by Turkey in this time of grief,” the PM added. Thirty-nine people, including foreigners, were killed when a gunman stormed an Istanbul nightclub as revellers were celebrating the New Year.

An Israeli woman was among the dead in an Istanbul nightclub attack that killed at least 39 people, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
