i know what the japs did to us, ie indian soldiers died fighting them in hong kong, singapore, burma and even china. IAF's first foe was the japanese zero

Spot on! The Chinese have forgotten the drubbing they got in Sikkim. In 1967 things got so bad for the Chinese that they cried halt to the intense small arms fire and Artillery shelling resulting in horrendous casualties on the PLA after they attacked Indian posts at Nathula.

In spite of their setbacks in 1965, the PLA had launched a direct attack on the lndian armed forces at Nathu La, on the Sikkim-Tibet border. The six-day “border skirmishes” from September 7-6 to 13, 1967, had all the elements of a high drama, including exchange of heavy artillery fire, and the PLA soldiers tried to cross the border in large numbers.

The attack was repulsed at all points and the Chinese received a severe mauling in the artillery duels. Indian gunners scored several direct hits on Chinese bunkers, including a command post from where the Chinese operations were being directed. The Chinese were also known to have suffered huge casualties in this encounter and had to agree to a ceasefire.

At Chola too in 1967, the Chinese got a drubbing and withdrew 2 km from the pass!

1962 was an aberration and the sooner the Chinese realise this the better!

Why the hell do we need a country whose heart is filled with hate for every India? Why do we need Pakistan? It is just a buffer-zone for us which is bearing the brunt of frustrated people on their western borders who think they are living in the 14th century AD. Yeah we lost the 1962 war but 1965 with Pakistan was a UN brokered stalemate.

Well you have won the hearts of the Pakistani government and that is all. But in time is real crisis where were you people? Wher were you when Pakistan's Punjab border was breached by Indians in 1965? Where were you when India cut Pakistan into two in 1971? Where were you when Kargil happened and Pakistani soldiers were bombed to smithereens in Himalayan heights? What monetary aid have you given when Pakistani floods took place? Why did your large conglomerate who had plans to invest the largest amount in Pakistan for mining withdrew? What did you do when the 2005 Kashmir earthquake happened and many Pakistani Kashmiris in Gilgit -Baltistan die freezing? Where were you and what did you do when American drones which conducted 300 sorties and killed 2500 people in Pakistan?

You did nothing when Pakistan actually needed you. Just giving a few toys for their military to play with and a few roads that connect China to CIS and the middle east is all that you have done to Pakistan.

Back in topic...Yes we had a crushing defeat there...but the Cho La and the Nangpa la incidents must ring a bell in Chinese defence circles where China was unable to advance and suffered serious causalities. and in 1987 als the Chinese aggression was countered again. The 1962 acctually woke up the government which was sleeping to the harsh realities of the neighborhood.

Let me quote you an high ranking official whom I met in China in 2003, " If India and China went to war, then some one up there is either high or plain stupid. There are so many opportunities that both can explore to make it the Asian Millennium."

2. india never gave veitnam/taiwan nukes
3. india never gave veitnam/taiwan missile capabilities
4. india does not intrude china's border
etc

we should be doing all that to level the playing field. but must be our pacifist nature that is stopping us
