'The Avengers' Indian Slum Scenes Draw Criticism from Indians

Indians absolutely love Westerners. Too bad they don't return the favour... whenever any big-budget Western movie comes out, it always depicts India in the same way that Danny Boyle did with the "Slum millionaire" film.

Then the Indians turn around, and boast to the Chinese/Pakistanis/Bangladeshis, that the Westerners love Indians the most.

All I have to say is you an an idiot to make such false claims. In India people can voice their opinion and there are 1200 million of us so you will hear all kinds of opinions, but don't forget Slumdog was a big success in India. And who showed Indian poverty more effectively than Satyajit Ray, the greatest indian filmmaker and our hero??? He was also criticised by some but he was also a great success and worshipped to this day.

And Indians claiming about love from foreigners, what a moronic claim, we don't chest thump abt ummah and brotherhood and other mind control drugs peddled by your governments, Indians are remarkebly sober about international relations than a sloganeering jihadi or an internet chini bot would ever be, imagine how many movies you dumdums ban and how many India does, then bark.

And the scene in avengers actually shows a taliban style open truck with gunmen in a kolkatta slum, that made me chuckle, if anyone India should be angry with Pakistan.

Sorry to say you would be right if India had banned the movie, but its a big hit. People expressing opinions is normal and expected in a democratic country like India.

The stereotype mentality is already set in the west, and it is pretty much hard to change. They consider any middle eastern guy as a potential terrorist. They look at Asians as somewhat of a cheap labor force and look down on us, thinking we are stealing their jobs. Secondly if you are muslim its even worse, because I have some muslim friends in college and people say a lot of bad things behind their back. We can do all we want but the west just has the mentality that they are superior to others.

Sorry for bursting your bubble. Shooting of Angelina Jolie (Based on journalist Pearl's killing in Pakistan) Mighty Hart took place in India. Because Hollywood stars and film unit thought that filming the scenes in Pakistan is too risky to their lives. So the shooting happened in Pune. There were no slum scenes.

Mate even the west had slums, and in some parts they still do, just come to Detroit and see the rotting city. but you will rarely see the ugly sides of US cities, simply because they don't want to show it. It hurts their ego, and they don't want to show the weak side, they show the weak side of other countries to make things look better in the US.
