a) What has LCA Project given to India....
1. Experience in Making a Naval Fighter, AF Version, Trainer for Naval Aviation and Airforce.
2. To make a Trainer is like making a New AirCraft - As all controls from Stick to FBW, CoG need to be rebalanced...
3.We are making 4 Aircrafts at a Time Together.
4. New Wind Tunnel in 1998 At ASTE fo Tejas, Wake Test Equipement, Stress Mgmt, Thunder Tests, Flutter Test Equipment....
5. Trainer Development has given so much insight, How to you Train a Rookie if you dont have a Trainer. There are nations which are flying jets with No trainer.
6. Brake Tests and Alloy Knowledge to manage Mach Level Stress on Fuselage...
7. FCS creation for 2 Jets (Naval and AF version)
8. MCS and MAWs systems are being recreated for this Tiny Bird.
9.SBTF data for CV Version Development...
10. Radar learning....
11. Heating Brakes...
12. Knowledge on Ceramics and Composites...
13. Levcon Learning...

b) So is it worth it....
If even 4 points of above are met, we have learned so much...how ever we have learning on all 11 points...

c) Actual work on this bird started in 1998 when real funding was given, even if it comes is small numbers is a huge achievement...

d) Political Will - Congress was underplaying defence production for vested interests. However, new Govt will not allow this....

We are Happy with wasting our Money.

LCA is a total failure a disaster but they will still contiue to waste money on it I think Armed version of South Korea T-50 can be best alternate

Outdated weapons from Russia, France and India (lol).

To LCA has given India a lot of experience in a number of areas.

The total cost is minuscule to date $1.2bn (over 20 yrs)

Ideally, if we had the money we should have had 2-3 competing consortiums developing versions.

India has a large coastline to defend and a LCA class plane will be needed in 5-10 years.

Don't think this was ever intended as a strike aircraft.

Fighter plane design is long term work.....LCA is not like JF 17 or Sukhoi planes where you order and get it....need to learn tech hard way to have your own tech.

I have seen various people and good critics say its a really good bird, light, fast and powerful. Also its specs are damn good, India has gained a lot knowledge in Aircraft manufacturing which will help them make there AMCA faster.

LCA was created in a vaccum with no prior aviation industry in India!
Secondly no one ever admitted its a worlds best aircraft..it has taken time but the results have been good and if you see the development time of Mk.1 and compare it to NLCA you can see the difference.
