1) Huawei P20 Pro

2) Oneplus 6

3) Apple iPhone X

4) Samsung Galaxy S9

5) Honor 9 Lite

6) Google Pixel 2 XL (made by LG Electronics)

7) Moto G6 Play

8) Honor View 10

9) Google Pixel 2 (made by HTC)

10) Sony Xperia XZ2

---------------------

What is surprising is that the iPhone X even makes it into the top 10 of any list, considering the high price and low features (e.g. doesn't even have a fingerprint scanner). Out of interest does anyone here own an iPhone X or think that it is good value for money?

Mostly bought iphone due to brand loyalty and the perception of upper class associated with it. Well that is the materialistic side of humans, style over substance and value.

Heh! iPhones topped lists without headphone jack or Bluetooth in the past.

Don't you think that is ridiculous though? The invisible hand of the market should allocate resources efficiently (in theory... barring market failure) yet people are paying astronomical sums of money for strictly inferior hardware when it comes to companies like Apple. Basically Apple customers are losing hundreds of dollars for no reason at all, in fact they are paying that much extra to lose even bargain-basement features like fingerprint scanners.

Apple customers form a "captive market", due to the Apple ecosystem they find it very difficult to leave. But instead of paying the sky-high prices (which simply aren't worth it for the hardware), a lot of Apple customers simply refuse to upgrade their phones at all. Sticking with old and outdated hardware (which can be a security risk if the software is not kept updated) in a world where great tech can be bought for low prices.

That's not how the market is supposed to work. In order to achieve allocative efficiency (the greatest benefit for society where P = MC), the customers are supposed to pay the least amount possible for the greatest benefit. With Apple it's the exact opposite, they are holding their captive market to ransom and squeezing every last cent out of them in exchange for inferior hardware.

Mate it is not that simple, once you get used to Apple experience, most probably will stick to it for a plethora of reasons. iPhone is no longer a class / status symbol ....at least in the west. Quality of apps, reliability, user experience, familiarity, security, longer shelf life, better resale value and apple-eco system are some of reasons most of the people stick with iPhone. But now a lot of people own both iPhone and an android based smartphone and I'm one of them and 'am planning to add Huawei P20 Pro as the next addition instead upgrading to next iPhone.

Honor 9 lite and G6 play in best list?

My top 10 list

Huawei P20 pro
Pixel 2 XL
Galaxy S9 Plus
HTC U12 plus
IPhone 8 Plus
LG G7
ONEPLUS 6
Huawei mate 10 pro
LG V3O
Samsung galaxy note 8

If your budget is tight then

Honor View 10
Honor 10
Xiaomi mi6
Galaxy S7 edge
ONEPLUS 5T

You might be right when it came to the S8 which held the top position before, however with the S9 they really haven't done anything extra except upgraded the camera.

How would it be worth it for an S8 user (previous best phone) to upgrade to the S9?
You are right not much changed in camera, battery, design, waterproofing from s7 to S9.. They should have at least upgrade the battery that's why I think S7 Edge is still better value phone from samsung

like my friend said, as long as there are chutias in the world smart people will keep making money. Apple has shown us a new way to "spot a chutia"

If you look at the ZDnet review, the author who wrote the list give S9 and Apple higher mark than P20 Pro (He gave 9.7/9.2 on S9, 9.5 on iPhone and 8.9 on Huawei P20 pro.) And Cnet give IX 8.9, Samsung 8.8 and Huawei P20 Pro 8.4...

And he said on the list, he place P20 Pro top simply because he cannot use a full day charge with Samsung.

LOL. He is funny.

The problem with the S9 is that it's not much of an upgrade to the S8. What are the benefits of an S8 user upgrading to the S9?

Also I didn't know the S9 had battery problems, if that's true it would even be a downgrade.

S9 is not big of an update S8, still pack a lot of gadget over S8, the problem with Samsung is that, it is the same over the year, it skip a generation.

S9 does not have a power problem, he said he put it down the list because it cannot last him a whole day with one charge, which if you read his review, that is the reason why he put the score down from 9.7 to 9.2 which mean what he does in the list is simply, for fun and not serious. (by the way, he claim he own a S9+ and use it for daily use, while the other is for testing)

In almost all other review (including ZDNet) Number 1 spot is Samsung S9 and Number 2 spot is Apple X (with the exception of Cnet, which put Apple over Samsung) then note 8 and then Google XL 2. Huawei is usually at number 5 spot on any major score based review.
