Apple phones - good or bad. I thought it was at least a pioneer in it's category. Am I wrong?

You are getting a different ecosystem. Remember if you buy an Audi A4, it is just a VW Jetta - heck even those 2 are 80% the same as the Skoda Octavia. But you pay for the brand. Also, Apple has a different OS. I am not a fan.

I prefer phones with Vanilla Android - no tweaks and no skins over them. Next one - I am moving back to Nokia - whatever their flagship is in the next 6 months.

2 type of people in the world , one who can afford a iphone and the second who cant.
I would retain my iphone just for its camera. The quality of iphone pics as compared to the flagships from samsung is really vast.
I remember taking prints with my iphone 5 and they came out so nice that i made a physical album of an occassion.
Now with the iphone 6 plus, 7 plus, 8 plus and x , the camera has become even better.
The camera is the difference. A layman does not need a dslr. But their is a difference in the quality of pics from like iphone 7 and 7 plus.

Everyone has different biases and different preferences. I use iPad Pro for taking notes...it is quite expensive device for a tablet but still it makes my life easier...I don't have to carry my Macbook around for taking notes in meetings. I like handwritten notes using the pencil and that where iPad Pro is the leader, tried surface pros Samsung tablets but none of them offered such a smooth and natural experience. Is it expensive? ..hell yeah.. iPad Pro 12" + pencil + smart keyboard + screen protector + carrying case...cost you a small fortune... But it depends on what value it brings to your life... for me taking notes, being able to edit them and sharing with colleagues and business partners is important and a good enough reason to invest in that.

S9 is not big of an update S8, still pack a lot of gadget over S8, the problem with Samsung is that, it is the same over the year, it skip a generation.

S9 does not have a power problem, he said he put it down the list because it cannot last him a whole day with one charge, which if you read his review, that is the reason why he put the score down from 9.7 to 9.2 which mean what he does in the list is simply, for fun and not serious. (by the way, he claim he own a S9+ and use it for daily use, while the other is for testing)

In almost all other review (including ZDNet) Number 1 spot is Samsung S9 and Number 2 spot is Apple X (with the exception of Cnet, which put Apple over Samsung) then note 8 and then Google XL 2. Huawei is usually at number 5 spot on any major score based review.

As for the iPhone X it is ridiculous, you are paying a high price for inferior hardware. Even when it comes to the camera, which is traditionally the strong point of Apple, just compare it to the Huawei P20 Pro and see for yourself.

Why pay more for inferior hardware? The iPhone X doesn't even have basic hardware features like a fingerprint scanner, which even bargain-basement budget smartphones have.

S9 has same battery capacity ( 3000mAh ) as S8 but Exynos version of S8/S9 is not as power efficent as snapdragon 835/845 version of S8/S9 which was released only in the USA..Xiaomi and Huawei are getting more popular because they are offering great batteries in compact size ..Samsung is downgrading in this department because s7 edge had 3600mAh so instead of keeping same at least or upgrading they are actually downgrading it ..These days people use mobile too much so battery is important factor

Apple hardware might be inferior but to be honest apple software compensate it well. Ios will run lagfree even with 1 or 2GB RAM while android if running branded sofware could still lag with 6GB RAM..same is true about processors as Iphone 8 is chmapion of benchmark score but i agree apple are overpriced phones espcially this iphone X so they are not better value phones if we consider price to spec ratio

As a Nokia android user myself i recommend that phone it really is a safe investment they will give you updates for 3 years

There are no problem with the battery, the battery life come from how you use your phone and the configuration it runs on. Which mean the battery is the same but if you use superior graphic detail, of course you are going to drain your battery sooner.

I don't know where this "Half battery life" come from, but most source put S9+ with snapdragon will last about 10 -to 11 hours with adreno 630 while Exynos with Mali G72 would run approximately 7-8 hours. The only way Snapdragon battery can last twice as much on Exynos is when you put the Snapdragon on standby and you put on both Wifi and 4G modem on the Exynos. Then you will get a 14 hours vs 7 hours battery life. And to be fair everybody think S9 is a lacklustre upgrade to S8, and if Huawei still cannot beat Samsung with this lacklustre upgrade, then the future of Huawei Flagship phone would be in doubt, because Samsung is like Intel, they skip a generation for major upgrade. Which mean the next Samsung Galaxy would be a major upgrade to the current one.

The thing is iPhone have both better performance and better graphic than Huawei P20 Pro. And as we discus before, the only things Huawei are superior to all other phones are Battery life (which is not by much actually) and the Camera. Anything other than that, form Display, Graphic generator to OS, iPhone are superior in those category. I would not say iPhone is an inferior product, in fact, iPhone X is considered to be a lot better than iPhone 7. And as suspected, not too many people think Camera and Battery life are that important at all. Hence it was reflected on the sale figure.

As for fingerprint sensor, Apple uses Face ID, which is something P20 Pro don't have, instead of Fingerprint, it is not that they can't afford it, it's just a change. Would you say the same to P20 Pro when the phone lack of an Audio Jack? Which you can found in any bargain-basement budget phone.
