Because;

1- This project started to be done...
2- Erdoğan said "In 2023 our army will nearly be 100% indepented" at ceremony of Barış Kartalı (Peace Eagle) delivery ceremony a few days ago...

So there is no way for a 'Cancel'...

But seriously 2023 is too short time for developing a indigenous Fighter out of nowhere, US is developing F-35 for decades and they have a long history in building fighters.

Turkey doesn't have much experience in building aircrafts..and then such a massive jump in going directly for a fifth generation aircraft? How confident you guys are on Turkish aviation industry's capabilities?

One more question, does Turkey produce F-16s from scratch or it just assembles kits? or something in between?

Erdogan said 'nearly' 100 %... Also i think you know we have a plan for jet engine too !!!... It will be like ALTAY's engine... First bach of ALTAY will have MTU engine and then indigenous engine... T/F-X will be something like that also...

Also when he came it was 24%... Now it's about 60%... To reach 100% we need time...

And we clearly see that Erdoğan's aim is 100%... Our defence industry have so many projects in every field... Air, Naval, Land, Space... Think that these current projects finished and think that how many projects will be added untill 2023...

Which systems are nearly ready currently

I don't know things in details but... Let's try...

(T/F-X versions of these)

1- ASELPOD (Aselsan)(in a TV program they said Aselsan will mount ASELPOD inside T/F-X)(like F-35)
2- Cocpit (Aselsan)
3- Communication (Aselsan)
4- AVCI Helmet (Aselsan)
5- Mission Computer (Aselsan)

Any other systems ?
