Says Pulwama incident is not a standalone case, as incursions have been rising.
India is no longer feared by the anti-national elements and terrorists, the Congress said on Sunday, launching a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government following a terror attack on a CRPF camp in Pulwama in Kashmir.

“Such recurring attacks send a message that the anti-national forces do not fear India,” Sushmita Dev, Congress MP and spokesperson, said.

She said the Pulwama incident was not a standalone case. Incursions had risen incrementally. Mr. Modi had claimed he had a 56-inch chest and that he would teach Pakistan a lesson.

“What that lesson could be he should decide. The Congress will support him if he takes any step in the interest of the nation. But he must do something immediately,” she said.

To a question on a meeting of the National Security Advisers of the two nations reportedly held on December 26, she said Parliament should be kept in the loop.

“You have a talk after Christmas and an attack happened today [Sunday] in Pulwama. We are unable to accept these two. We do not oppose dialogue [with Pakistan] but what is the result of this if an attack dampens the image of the country in the world,” Ms. Dev said.

She said the Congress expected the Modi government to have “consistency” in its foreign policy. “We have been repeatedly saying India is coming across as a nation with a wishy-washy foreign policy. India is being increasingly taken more and more lightly,” she said.

Ex-servicemen’s welfare
The Congress raised the issue of increase in premium for the ex-servicemen’s contributory health scheme. A group of ex-servicemen, including retired Major-General Satbir Singh, chairman of Indian Ex-servicemen Movement, was present at the press conference.

A Defence Ministry notification said an officer who was till now paying ₹60,000 a year would now have to pay from ₹1.20 lakh. “It is easy to talk about patriotism and to sing songs about nationalism. This attack on ex-servicemen hits at the very narrative BJP is trying to project. They should assure jawans’ families that they can head to the border without fear as the government will take care of their families,” Ms. Dev said.

I always anxiously wait for a congress response after any such event and here it is.

. . . .
Yeah, when they have such huge support from "Secular" political parties, Legal activists and media why would they fear India?

. . .
Well, all thanks to Congress and its glorification of terrorism as some sort of acceptable new behaviour between 2009 and 2013.

The blame is not on Pakistan but on people both past and present, who are responsible for addressing the challenges thrown by Pakistanis.

Solution is simple. Stop fighting and talk to people of Kashmir. If they want to stay with youthey will tell you if not you will know

But what do you want us to talk on?

The whole premise of separating from India is on religious lines which is not permissible, especially given that the state was cleansed off minorities and therefore does not have a fair representation. Also not to mention that Kashmir is a very small part of a much larger state who are a part of India and very happy to be so.

There is no national movement except for religious extremism which is channelised from you-know-where.

So bottomline is, you are not getting any more land than what you already have.

Be happy with it, forget the historical violence and dislike and move forward hand in hand. Stop this violence and we are willing to make LOC as the international border.

This violence will get both of us nowhere. We are not leaving our land and neither are you leaving whatever you have.

Only common foot soldiers and border guards will die and their families will be suffering.

This does not hold good for either countries.

That's your point and very selfish one at that. It's not a solution. Fact is Kashmiris don't want you and as you cause problems in paksitan we will make sure until IOK is free you keep bleeding

With this thought process, you are causing further grief and difficulty to people on both sides. Neither is gaining anything with the single-viewpoint.

While other regions of the world progress, we will continue in-fighting each other.

Agreement was there will be a vote for the people of Kashmir to decide. You claim to be a democracy why not allow your people the vote. Is it because you know they don't want to spend another day with India? It's not us that's causing the suffering in occupied Kashmir. We don't have 700000 soldiers of occupation.
