Salary cannot be higher than indian workers' real productivity...This is going to be bad . 692 rupee is like $13 CAD. Very few companies will pay mininum wage like that. That's like $260 CAD/month (counting only 20 week days), $3120 CAD/year! The average GDP/capita is only $1700 USD or $2210/CAD year. That is way above average Indian GDP/capita. Who's going to pay this to low skilled workers when Indian MBA make only $149 CAD/month?
Seem like everything coming out of India these days on economics seem to be a recipe for disaster on a scale never witness in history.
Salary cannot be higher than indian workers' real productivity...
Such movement is totally populist and irresponsible and harms a country's long-term benefits.
@Echo_419 Actually it's a serious issue. U can't let those populist labor leaders to run a country. They know nothing about economy. A country should run on meritocracy!
Foxconn pay non-skilled migrant workers from China's countryside at least $600 per month with extra insurances and pension because they have reached some certain productivity. U can't pay them $600 when their productivity is only worth $300!!!
So the current minimum wage law in India is a total joke?I usually discuss serious issues with serious persons.
To answer your question, no such thing is going to happen, the unions who are protesting to get a higher minimum wage are mainly Marxist-Leninist and god knows that these incompetent idiots haven't been able to achieve a single thing. So really no worry on the "minimum wage front"
How do you plan on doing that, arent there millions of them? This scum must be rooted out ASAP
So the current minimum wage law in India is a total joke?
How do you plan on doing that, arent there millions of them?
How about the current minimum wage? What I meant was that the current minimum wage is not going to be raised for quite some time
How about the current minimum wage?
Some Indian members said in another thread, nobody respects that law in the real life.
If the law is not in line with people's actual productivity, what should enact such law in the first place? That's indeed true, many companies, both big & small, avoid paying the minimum wage by exploiting loopholes. This is actually a good thing since it helps our competitiveness
Indians(We) loves PUBLIC HOLIDAYS Nothing to worry, another holiday life goes on..
At 21, India has the most public holidays in world
How about the current minimum wage?
Some Indian members said in another thread, nobody respects that law in the real life.
How are these two states doing? The communist are a lost cause, out of 29 states they rule only 2 small ones they are slowly on their way out
You dont have to pay them according to the law, they are illegal,no-one will know or cares what they get paid.look at those illegal Mexican immigrants waiting behind a Mexican grocery store waiting for jobs, none of those so-called employers picking them up for work are going to pay them according to the law
But minimum wages law in China really matters...The so-called minimum wages could be a joke here in US as well, look at those illegal Mexican immigrants waiting behind a Mexican grocery store waiting for jobs, none of those so-called employers picking them up for work are going to pay them according to the law
So i really not surprise Indians employers doing the same of ripping off the their employees
If the law is not in line with people's actual productivity, what should enact such law in the first place?
The minimum salary in my city is closely related to our GDP per capita....
And it is strictly implemented alongside with other laws on insurances and pension.
Many low-productivity factories are driven away by our local regulations to places where low standards are required.

The question is not just about gazetted holidays, but also the labor laws about holidays....
How much can a worker be compensated if they have to work on a public holiday?
Are their rights to rest on public holidays strictly ensured?
How are these two states doing?
