What's new

Tendulkar, Kapil, Gavaskar, Sehwag named in Greatest All Time Test XI

I agree but does all of this fit into the equation when a batsman is being judged against his performance ? The simple answer is NO. The psychological affect is of secondary, in fact of no value at all when ranking a batsman or a bowler for that matter. Watching a fast bowler run through a long run up, steaming in, also has an adverse effect on the batsmen but does that figure into his ranking ? Again the simple answer is NO. The only thing that counts is your stats and that's it.

Actually team composition and individual ranking are two different things. Team composition is the primary thing that is considered by the selectors while selecting a team.

You have to select players to fit your team strategy rather going for individual performers who may not fit into the overall strategy. Things like Right-Left combo, defensive-offensive combo are very important things to be delibrated before the batsmen are chosen. Stats are of second value there.

It's not a part of cricket, because it doesn't impact how the game is played, & it isn't a rule of cricket either. It is just a statistic created by someone to describe & understand 'cricketing events'. It is a standard created to understand things, that's all. It's not part of cricket.

Statistics about cricket are as much a part of cricket as anything else. Especially Wisden (Bible of cricket) recognized statistics.

Put your drivel elsewhere.

well the team was selected on fan's votes so what can you say. Most fans would like to see players from her own nation so its obvious who would grab more votes

I would rather set this criteria

Records | Test matches | Team records | Results summary | ESPN Cricinfo

Countries who won most matches in past 2000 tests should get more players in the squad, second team should get second-most players in the top 11 squad... and so on

The results will be totally upside down

Again, it's not fixed for everyone, it changes from person to person. Sure, why not? He could take wickets like him if he was given the opportunity.
