Channels, including Zee Bangla, were unavailable across Bangladesh from Monday

The transmission of all television channels associated with Zee Network has been suspended across Bangladesh.

The telecast of the channels was suspended on Monday.

Abdur Razzaque, deputy secretary of Information Ministry (TV 2), confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.

However, he did not disclose details regarding the matter.

All channels related to Zee Network, which is a concern of the Esselgroup, have been temporarily suspended.”

Firoz Khan, assistant secretary of Information Minister, said: "We did not ask the cable operators to block the channels however, we asked them about Bangladeshi advertisements broadcast on those channels.”

He also said the operators have been asked to give a report regarding the matter within seven days.

Thank God craze of Indian dramas has gone from Pakistan. We must congrats our drama industry for revival of Pakistani drama once again. Now we should also kick them out from our cinemas.

Bangladeshis basically watch Indian Bangla channels Zee Bangla and Star Jolsha. Local channels are all filthy.

No Pakistani channel is popular in Bangladesh. Hardly there are one or two Pakistani channels but the shows are not popular at all because of unknown reason. Bangladeshis seems to be interested only on Indian contents even though Pakistani contents are generally better compared to Indian TV dramas but Bangladeshis hardly ever or never watch Pakistani dramas.

Our drama industry is completely dead because of Indian Bangla soap operas. Earlier Hindi serials were very popular but for last 5 years Bangla channels of India has totally overshadowed Bangladeshi channels.

Frankly speaking, our TV channels need major revival. No content at all. Only advertisement and news shows, 3 / 4 round table political talk shows every day in every channel, one live music show at midnight and nothing else.

Earliers Natoks / dramas were very popular but now Natoks have gone down all time low with no quality, story, no execution, no artistic value, no climax, very low production value, very bad artists, lack of suspence etc. Basically completely sh***t.

If Pakistani drama dub in Bangla language may be they will make market. It will help two nation to bridge gap and further there will be no Pooja scene in drama and will be more Islamic cultured than Hindu cultural drama.

The local media folks were petitioning this for over a decade. Finally the information ministry got serious.

Indian cable/sat providers don't even show Bangladeshi channels, forget about ad-dollars for Bangladeshi products.

সুকুমার সরকার, ঢাকা: প্রায় ২৪ ঘণ্টা বন্ধ থাকার পর অবশেষে বাংলাদশে ফের সম্প্রচারিত হচ্ছে জি নেটওয়ার্কের চ্যানেলগুলো।


ভিন দেশের টিভি চ্যানেলে বাংলাদেশি বিজ্ঞাপন কেন সম্প্রচারিত হচ্ছে? তা জানতে চেয়ে তথ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের তরফ থেকে নোটিস দেওয়া হয়েছিল। তারপরই ডিস্ট্রিবিউটর সংস্থা জাদু ভিশন লিমিটেডের পক্ষ থেকে বাংলাদেশে ওই চ্যানেলগুলির সম্প্রচার বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়। ওই সংস্থার গ্রাহক পরিষেবা বিভাগের কর্মকর্তা ফয়সল মিডিয়াকে জানান, বুধবার বেলা ১২টার দিকে বন্ধ থাকা জি নেটওয়ার্কের চ্যানেলগুলির ফের সম্প্রচার শুরু হয়েছে। ‘কেবল টেলিভিশন নেটওয়ার্ক পরিচালনা আইন, ২০০৬’-এর ১৯(১৩) ধারা লঙ্ঘন করে বাংলাদেশে ডাউন লিংক করা ভারতের টিভি চ্যানেলের মাধ্যমে বিজ্ঞাপন সম্প্রচার করা হচ্ছিল। যে কারণে জাদু ভিশন লিমিটেডের পাশাপাশি নেশন ওয়াইড মিডিয়া লিমিটেডকে সোমবার শোকজ নোটিস পাঠায় তথ্য মন্ত্রণালয়। সাতদিনের মধ্যে ওই দুটি সংস্থাকে জবাব দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছিল।

কেবল টেলিভিশন নেটওয়ার্ক পরিচালনা আইনের ১৯(১৩) ধারায় বলা হয়েছে, কেবল টিভি নেটওয়ার্কের মাধ্যমে বিদেশি কোনও চ্যানেলে বিজ্ঞাপন সম্প্রচার করা যাবে না। অবশ্য তথ্যমন্ত্রী হাসান মেহমুদ মঙ্গলবার সচিবালয়ে সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, “বাংলাদেশে সম্প্রচারিত বিদেশি কোনও চ্যানেলে কোনও ধরনের দেশীয় বিজ্ঞাপন দেখানো যায় না। শুধু দেশীয় বিজ্ঞাপন নয়, কোনও ধরনের বিজ্ঞাপন দেখানোই বাংলাদেশের আইন বিরুদ্ধ। একই ধরনের আইন ভারত, যুক্তরাজ্য, ইউরোপেও রয়েছে। বাংলাদেশে এই আইনটি প্রয়োগ করা হয়নি। ফলে বাংলাদেশে টিভি চ্যানেলগুলি যে বিজ্ঞাপন পেয়েছে, তার বড় অংশ চলে গিয়েছে ভারতে। বাংলাদেশের শিল্পকে সুরক্ষিত করতেই এই আইন প্রয়োগ করা হচ্ছে মন্তব্য করেন মন্ত্রী। তিনি আরও বলেন, “আইন প্রয়োগের উদ্যোগ নিয়ে তা চালু করার আগে দু’মাস ধরে প্রচারও করেছি। তিন দফা নোটিস দিয়েছি। ১ এপ্রিলও যখন দেখলাম বিদেশি চ্যানেলে বাংলাদেশের বিজ্ঞাপন সম্প্রচারিত হচ্ছে, তখন আমরা আইন মেনে শোকজ নোটিস দিয়েছি। এ বিষয়ে আলোচনার জন্য বুধবার বিকালে ডিস্ট্রিবিউটর সংস্থা দু’টির সঙ্গে বৈঠক করে কেবল অপারেটরস অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অফ বাংলাদেশ। এরপর পরবর্তী রূপরেখা নির্ধারিত হবে।

The ban anyway was imposed because of trivial reasons, are you now going to allow Bollywood movies screening too?And I had read somewhere that lots of quality bengali films from WB are not allowed to be released in BD.
