What's new

Tejas LCA will be battle-ready by 2014: Browne

JF-17 is the world's first operational fighter jet incorporating DSI. Tejas Mk. 2 still won't have DSI, and it won't fly before 2018, since it's only began development. :woot:
Dsi is not compulsion. Only few chinese fighters along with F 35 have dsi. That doesn't make the f 35 better or evem match the f 22.

Well, if LCA gets inducted to the IAF, I am sure I'll be getting my PRP (bonus) by end of this year or beginning of next year. That good for me lol. BTW, if LCA is said to be quadruplex, are all the control surfaces quadruplex?? SU30MKI, though we call it a quadruplex, some of the control surfaces do not have 4 channels in the FBW system. I see it carrying a Letning LDP, thats an amazing piece of equipment, I am wondering what type of RECCE pod it will carry. Fixing these pods required major works on the aircraft loomings, SU30MKI had to be rewire to carry such PODs, antennas and mil bus modification for the RECCE pods.

Well, How does a DSI work in lieu of RAMP air intake (variable with speed and height) in conjunction with Variable Inlet Guide Vanes in the likes of the SU30MKI with AL31FP engines?

All new Chinese and American fighters, J-10B, J-20, J-31, F-35 have DSI. It is highly beneficial, being a 21st century technology.

So according to you there is no difference between a battlefield and an airshow?!

Let me tell you the LCA too is a regular fixture at Aero India since 2007. However, it isn't battle-ready until it receives the FOC. Maybe you'll do well to tell us if the JF 17 has received it's FOC.

LCA should be the parade and air show plane of India. It plan to build 24 planes so the 24 planes should all be used to boost moral of Indian people. Let its imported planes perform the actual defense duties.

As you wish, Sir Trollsalot ! :cheesy:

There is a reason India is only buying 24. Its to show support for an Indian build plane. Lets be honest here, if this plane is not manufacture by India. But its manufacture by Russia or France or Germany, would India even buy such a plane? Of course not, India is trying to get a plane like Rafale, why would it buy a plane like LCA if its a foreign plane.

So the only reason India is buying this plane is because of 30 years of investment, it should not go into waste. So India AF reluctantly induct this plane even though it has much better options.

India really need to work hard on MKII and get it ready. If it take 10 or more years to build that plane, than Indian AF would only buy another 24 batch.

Trust me, India can buy anything if there is kickback associated with it.

An off-course why not? Indian can buy any point defense fighter.. Be it F16 or Grippen.. Theoratically LCA is less to no one..,

Firstly, there's an order for 40 LCA Mk1 already by IAF. The Mk2, if it is available on time, is surely going to replace the Mig21 Bisons & Mig27s.

Secondly, why exactly do you think it has taken so long to realise the LCA? There has been no compromise on it's capabilities and it has been slotted specifically to take over the role of Mig21 (interception)wholly and Jaguar/Mig27 (ground attack) partly. It's life cycle operational expenses will be much lower in comparison to Su30s or Rafales and hence, it'll still be an attractive proposition to IAF over similar aircraft of foreign origin.

As I said, would India buy Gripen C/D? Why not have a bidding contest between Grippen C/D with LCA? lol

LCA is the only choice because it was developed in India for over 30 years. And Indian AF need to show support to DRDO and HAL. So that is why Indian AF agree to take 24 for now. And the rest later if its really useful to Indian AF.

India buys Rafales and MKI. But it would not have considered buying LCA class of light planes if HAL did not manufacture them after decades of development.

It's much easier to build a larger fighter than to miniaturize it. You have no idea why IAF prefered an aircraft of the size of LCA, do you? It has got a lot to do with IAF's experiences with Folland Gnat and Ajeet aircraft, small & nimble aircraft that proved very good at interception & dogfights. Given it's size, capabilities & smaller RCS, why will the IAF complain on it's size?

well LCA took first flight in 2001 get that

now its onli 12 years since then and it has clocked 2400 flights withowt any crash + its been tested with all the avionicks and onli a few wepon trails are remainig and it can carry almost the same weight of wepons as latest grippen but needs much smaller airstrips to take off + it can manouver as good as latest grippen if not better soon it will have an indo-israeli ASEA and latest BVRs + a 98Kn engine + there are already three variants in works which might come owt within next took months so hold your horses soon the world will see what real LCA is all about till then chill buddy and worry about your own nation ...thanks

Why explain the same things over and over to someone who has only intesion to troll and earn his 50 cents? Leave him aside. We know LCA is good. Why ruin our happiness to feed the troll who posts the same rhetoric everywhere.

Save the AESA crap. Its only for MKII and if its going to be put there on time, it will have to be purchased off the shelf as India is no where close to develop an AESA radar for a jet fighter.
