Tejas far behind competitors, not enough to protect Indian skies: IAF

Funny how the Pakistanis are ridiculing the Tejas when facts indicate that IAF would
have rejected JF-17 for the same reasons, they are criticizing Tejas.

Except that we are neither offering them the JF 17 and that the JF 17s programme is on track and the jet is growing from strength to strength with its 3rd export order in the bag

You Pakistanis are poor,PAF can't afford expensive and new fighter while IAF has liberty to buy anything with no resource limitation...When they could have Rafael and might buy another single engine jet there is no need to induct TEJAS in large number to make fan boys or government happy "Made in India"...
Actually Tejas is an idea its a concept and the concept never dies .It may change into another idea but the evolution will go on and continue to provide much needed technical skills to Indian air space industry..It will remain alive until the patriotic people are alive
At least we aren’t morons like you Indians who wasted time and exorbitant amounts of $$ on a flying Turd!

what i dont get is why i mean pakistanies keep so much worried about indian air force and how bad is Tejas ... if its bad then as per logic rather they should be happy and keep quite and let there enemy make that grave mistake so its easier for them in so called "ghazwa tull hind" :sarcastic:

now as per facts Tejas even in MK1 format has 4 chanell Digital Fly By Wire and fully digitally computrrised central DATABUS controlled avionics and soon in MK1A format going to get a la Growler type combined and minutrised GaN AESA based EW+ECM+Internal Jammer suits and GaN AESA based radar and other all aspect 360 degrees HOBS eneballing aids like internal pods and next gen JHMCS & better HUD & multiple IRST & IIR & other such sensors plus a new type of light wieght but wider landing gear for better braking capbility and loading and better turbofan engine which is very good to make LCA MK1A on par with latest fighter jest but with limited combat radius but IFR probe will solve that problem too ;)

It’s that good that it has been rejected by both IAF and IN?

Block 3 will be revealed in 2019 , so on what basis are you saying it doesn't have HOBS , can't fire laser guided bombs ?
JF-17 consists of three blocks : Block 1 / Block 2 / Block 3 .
All Block 1 Aircraft's are now Upgraded to block 2 . ( No block 1 left )
Soon all Block 2s will be upgraded to a new block , we cannot call them block 3 cause block 3 will be little bit bigger in size , they can be called Block 2.5 ( upgraded block 2s) :partay: . All these Block 2.5 Jets will have all the things you have mentioned above which LCA MK1 has .
Then In SHA Allah by 2019 block 3 will be revealed , it will be bigger in size , will have HOBS / JHMCS , 10 Hps , new or upgraded engine , composite material usage , AESA , in other words a true 4.5th gen aircraft .

So conclusion is in the end all Thunder block 2.5 ( Upgraded Block 2s) and Block 3s will have all the goodies you have mentioned above ,
( HOBS / JHMCS / AESA) , I can talk more about the Thunder program but info is confidential at the moment !
I think every thing is clear to you now ....
3 countries have bought thunders because they know it's cheap and can be upgraded easily . Many more countries are negotiating for the thunder . What about Tejas ? How many orders did it get ?

Deep down you know IOC tejas has better specs than your inducted jet. 123 LCA already on order they will be inducted in due course
Due course for Indian fanboys translated =
30 more years

reasons that this article brings up
1. low load of 3.6 tomes...wrong thunder load is 4.6 tones block2, might go up in block 3
2. very costly to maintain...wrong PAF has numerously stated that it is very cheap to maintain
3. difficult to operate...wrong PAF says its so easy to operate that staff is 1/3 of older jets and that they didnt even needed a dual seater
4. endurance...may be an issue but PAF hasnt complained yet

as usual you have purely biased opinion ignoring facts
thunder was designed by PAF while tejas was designed by HAL ignoring IAF requirement

i saw 10 posts i could have responded to
BUT whats the point

Fellow Pakistani's we know the worth of the Tejas, so do the IAF and IN they desperately want to get rid of it but are being lumbered by the government for political reasons

The indian fanboys are delusional clowns the IN was involved and throwing money into the pit of the tejas programme for decade's before they got sick of all the delays and sub par performance
They then outrightly rejected the Tejas and changed the perimeters of their requirements so the Tejas couldn't be forced down their throats

IAF wasent so lucky and couldn't claim they didnt want a single engine fighter replacement for their old junk
They just didnt want to replace the old junk with the new tejas junk with its sub par performance, double service time, poor availability and numerous other faults

they have dropped numerous hints, tried their best to get the tejas monkey off their back but it haunts them like a ghost

The indian fanboys are jumping through hoops trying to make excuses for the programme but its becoming pathetic as they lie, make up rubbish, try to attack the JF 17 to justify the crap that is Tejas

indians have got themselves stuck
they have hundreds of fighters being retired by 2030 and nothing to replace them with
Raphael is expensive
Su 30s has its own problems

Pak FA is a dud
AMCA isnt even a realty just words
Tejas turned out to be useless

inducting 100+ single engine f16s or gripens will cost them 10-20 billion

5th gen is a distant dream

Yes, outside bravado india is stuck
This is how it is in the real world!!! They have been wasting all of their energies in harming Pak, but this the end result as of now!!! Anyway, human mind understands best in differential mode via comparison !! Now Pak folks will appreciate the Bereket of JF17 even more, which is the foundation for more advanced programs. In that sense Tejas is a success from Pak perspective!!!!!!

The Chinese used PAF to design their jet.
That is news...

The biggest puzzle in the world:IAF。 they already have long-range,heavy payload fighters,likeSU-30;they also have rafale,an excellent multirole fighter with 9 tons payload;they have mirage 2000, Jaguar. Still they want a new single engine other than LCA?

LCA is not good enough, everybody understand。LCA can not do MIG-21’s job?

Somehow I feel politician should take blame too. one hand they are shouting:Indian can beat China and Pakistan and domestic rebellion at the same time; The other hand they want IAF to buy homemade product.

It is politician‘s responsibility to creat peaceful environment for long-term strategy such as developing defense industry.

The Chinese used PAF to design their jet.
That is news...
PAF did help a lot .First, it will be their fighter. Second, they are quite familiar with west standard/concept.
Third.PAF are very experienced.Pilots' advice is valuable.

IAF believes Tejas isn't enough to protect Indian skies:

114_11641510319370.jpg

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has told the government that the indigenously-developed Light Combat Aircraft Tejas isn't enough to protect Indian skies.

The IAFs assessment is based on a comparison with the larger single-engine aircraft, the US-made Lockheed Martin F-16 and Sweden's Saab JAS-39 Gripen.

The F-16 and Gripen are competing for an IAF requirement.

Does the Tejas lag behind its competitors? We answer.

Govt. had asked IAF to scrap single-engine fighter acquisition plans

India Today has reported that the government recently asked the IAF to cancel plans to acquire around 114 foreign single-engine fighters (F-16 or Gripen) and instead only buy the Tejas.

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval also raised the issue with the IAF, which responded with a presentation on the Tejas' shortcomings and why it's not sufficient to meet Indian's requirements alone.

Why the IAF needs foreign single-engine aircraft

The IAF currently has 35 active fighter squadrons as opposed to a sanctioned strength of 42. Each squadron has between 18-20 aircraft.

The IAF's fleet strength is depleting due to obsolescence of vintage platforms such as the MiG-21 and MiG-27.

The IAF has ordered 123 Tejas, including 40 Mk.1 and 83 upgraded Mk.1A variants.

Besides this, 36 Dassault Rafale fighters have also been ordered.

IAF says Tejas has lower endurance and payload capacity

In its presentation, the IAF reportedly told the government that the Tejas' "endurance" is just 59 minutes while the Gripen's is three hours and F-16's is four hours.

The Tejas can carry a three-ton payload compared to Gripen's six tons and F-16's seven.

Hence, if a target needs 36 bombs to be destroyed, six Tejas must be deployed compared to three Gripen or F-16.

IAF says Tejas' maintenance costs more, has lower life cycle

The IAF contends that 20 hours of service are needed for every hour of Tejas' flight compared to six hours for Gripen and 3.5 hours for F-16.

The Tejas' maintenance costs are also higher.

The IAF said the LCA has a life cycle of 20-years while Gripen and F-16 have 40 years.

In some areas, the ageing MiG-21 performs better than the Tejas.

Your MKIs were put to sword in recent standoff. First your IAF was hiding in its holes, its only when profanities got louder and more intense from Pakistani side, they decided to show up but then then again ran away with their tails firmly between their legs when their RWRs starting to go off.

And no my source is not windy. I can check on my own.

Lets see your "sources" in IAF.

I am not claiming, I am telling you facts here. I am not into story telling. Get your credibility up first by doing your homework about JF17s capability before being taken seriously.
Aye man what are you smoking? And what are these random photos you posting, and about payload even a truck can carry things overload but it's speed decreases, and about MKI being defeated BS, and standoff? Which standoff you are talking about? First get yourself up in the air then nail MKI....

Who told you Tejas cant fire BVR or refuel mid air ? Tejas mk2 will have an Aesa radar.

sounds like mk2 or the next version become the excuse for poor products. Remind me of Arjun or INSAS. In other word, it is always Work In Progress in India, that's why it took decades to make one thing.

Sukhoi's have only one problem and that is the spare parts, they are imported from Russia and other than that it got no problems.
PAK FA episode will come to rest when air Force is given 126 rafales, once they get 126 rafales and another 106 F16's or gripen only then they are going to accept 90 tejas.....it's all drama to force govt to get 400+ planes by 2025...
