Well, Gawadar deep seaport is a direct competitor to Iran's Chah Bahar seaport. Doing business through Chah Bahar adds at-least 13 hours to whatever one is transporting, 13 hours of extra fuel, 13 hours of extra time etc.

You fail to mention who is going to use Gwadar port other than Pakistan and China. Afghanistan at the moment prefers Chah Bahar. The Central Asian states are connected to the Chah Bahar through highway to Mashhad and onwards to Turkmenistan. The Gwadar to Central Asian highway would have to pass through Afghanistan and Afghans may not give access and provide security. Chah Bahar at the moment has the advantage over Gwadar.

You also fail to mention that the highway has to pass through Afghanistan from Gwadar to Central Asia. Afghanistan may not annoy Iran which has provided it access Chah Bahar.

In order to have such a decisive say, it takes time, it's a long wait until today, China has finally grown to this point. Even 10 years ago, it was impossible to imagine, all that stuff is just a blueprint, a dream, just as Pakistan's friends have been complaining about it. However, we (China and Pakistan) has finally reached here, it's not worth congratulating ?
