I think sooner or later even Indians with an independent (i.e. non-Hindutva) mindset have to acknowledge the fact (which they ARE doing as I have seen) that these semi-educated Hindutva propagandists have come out of the dark corners of their RSS shakhas only to spout the drivel that Chaiwala is doing wonders for India, when in reality thing aren't so great there at all, and even severely regressive in some cases, such as this one.
What is amazing to me - is that this is simply not a case of "
my country did better in some areas and not so much in others" - which is a normal feeling posited by reasonable people. On the contrary - it is a case of 'RABID Desperate Shining Supa-pawa syndrome showcasing everything as wonderful in India' notwithstanding the glaring fact that all indicators of reality are pointing the other way.
The desperation is necessary because for a long time, a 'Gaunt, Long-jawed, ineffectual India boasted an economy perpetually at a '
Hindu rate of growth'. Economists pointed to an 'outlook of fatalism and contentedness' which was responsible for this slow growth while China, Korea and Taiwan catapulted to sometimes approaching double digit growth rates while the Hindu rate languished around 3.5% from 1950s to 1980s.
These kind of Hindutva propagandists are almost maniacal in their intensity and will stoop to even comparing chaiwalas supposed 'success' to economies one-eighth of India's size in order to find any positive comparisons, such as with Bangladesh, instead of comparing to China, which is what they should be doing but can't because the comparison results in lackluster show in every area of their economy. The Hindutva trolls in this forum are focused into that single goal - by making India look good (usually against smaller and lesser performing economies) by any means possible.
The irony in all this is that even Bangladesh does better in several areas compared to India as this thread discussion demonstrates.
The pattern is that SEMBLANCE of (and not ACTUAL) success of India must be shown at any cost, such as removing beggars from Hyderabad during Ivanka Trump's recent visit (FAT lot of good that did!). It is a really sad, sordid case of 'Fake it till you make it', only that making it won't be in the cards, going by past records....
Instead of working at giving people jobs and letting them earn a living wage, Chaiwala is trying (in fact betting) that taking a shortcut in giving Indians the 'semblance' of having a first world economy is going to work. But the rest of the world knows all too well what reality is...
