TAX ON LABOUR ONLY

There is lot of hue and cry from the business community, from their sympathizer anchors, columns on the recent imposition of 0.6% tax reduced to 0.3 seeing the power of businessmen on the banking transaction. As since 7-8 years our rulers care much for the rich, Nawaz Sharif has imposed a tax of Rs. 300 on those Overseas Pakistanis who are very poor and send their family less than Rs. 20,000/-. They are mostly labour class. Those who send above Rs. 20,000 have been exempt from tax. It is same policy of Nawaz Sharif to tax the kerosene oil but afford maximum possible concessions on import of high capacity luxury cars. Imran Khan and Sheikh Rasheed most specifically and some anchors who generally speak so much showing their empty love and care for the Overseas Pakistanis, have not spoken even a word about this tax. Imran and Sheikh Rasheed has proved, once more, that their rhetoric for these Overseas Pakistanis is only limited and restricted to getting votes from these OPs.

They don't even think of people like us who r earning 15 to 25 thousand rupees/m.

• Time to ask for employer salary increase

Every worker is entitled to yearly salary increase any where in world not sure why a increase is not part of discussions in Gulf countries

PS: Taxes are due on income earned abroad in any country in world , its not if Pakistan is doing
some sort of INHUMANE behavior

Western country if you have two countries

Country A and Country B , if you work in A and send money to B , taxes are due in country B, specially if you are citizen of country B. If there is a MOU between two countries then if you paid taxes in country A , country B can call up country A and collect taxes and not bother you.


Gulf countries do not have taxes , so you should be taxed in Pakistan becasue you are using services in Pakistan or your family or immediate family is

• Homes
  
• Properties
  
• Shadi /Wadi
  
• Bache
  
• Credit cards
• Schools
  
• Roads

If someone sends 20,000 Rupees , taxing RS 300 is a very small amount

• However , people travelling with 1 Million dollar in Bags also need to be "Taxed"

Like I said , in a just country , even the people sending large amounts like carrying 1 Million dollar in bag are taxed

Western countries -
You cannot carry more then $10,000 at airport , if you get caught all money is confiscated. Unless you can show its from valid source like employment etc (at which point taxes become due) PAID at airport or end of year

We have people carrying shit load of money in bags (Musicians , actors , politicians ) building empires in UAE or UK etc

I am not familiar with laws in Pakistan / Airports about carrying Million dollars in bags as was case with Ayyan etc PPP group


Best way to deal with it is simple

a) Open saving account in Gulf country , the interest collected will help
offset the cost for RS 300

b) Option B : Request a modest salary increase from Gulf employer one is due each year

c) Option C : Don't vote for PPP / PML

Businessmen Lobby does have a lot of say in this matter only because they are contributing much higher then other sectors that is why they are quite powerful Lobby in Pakistan. If Govt. was actually Interested in Expanding Revenue through Tax they should have Taxed some of those who doesnt even pay one despite of having substantial Income. There is no Agriculture Tax ever got imposed and the situation of Pakistan is that our Output per Acre is one of the lowest in the World while those Land Lords are living in Luxury as no one is there to demand anything from them. Now when Govt. started collecting its revenue from only one Group what do you expect could happened. They would also Exploit the Govt. as well so best policy of any Govt. is to Expand their Tax Net to Informal Economy and Agricultural income to avoid getting under pressure from Business Sector but instead they are imposing Taxes on Common man rather.

This why its important for folks to vote for people who favor taxing the rich ....ye ethnic wa-thnic lines nahi chaltine after a few steps
