Tata Group to set up $5 billion steel factory in Vietnam

great india has found a new frnd, free trade pact should be discussed now. take it to the next level.

Yet POSCO's 7-year old $12 billion Indian steel mill project is going nowhere thanks to India's red tapes.

Posco submits revised land plan for 8 MTPA steel plant

This is 2 different issues. But again, as you have raised this issue, i should inform for being a native of the place, Orissa, where POSCO is building the plant. This entire issue is highly political. This is nothing to do with any ill intention to Korea in specific but it is the failure of Indian adminstrative and polotical party to make POSCO a success.

I think the problem is with land acquisition. The villagers are either demanding higher compensation or not willing to give their land at all

Talk is cheap.

How is the South Korean POSCO (MOU) $12 billion dollar steel plant for Orissa, India coming along?

That's right. That's all talk too.

----------

Here's why it won't be built.

1. Vietnam does not have a large deposit of iron ore.

2. Vietnam does not have abundant cheap energy.

3. Vietnam has lousy infrastructure. You can't ship out the steel and there's not much domestic demand.

4. China has massive overcapacity in steel production. They can underprice the steel produced in a tiny plant in Vietnam.

China already has massive overcapacity in steel production. Chinese steel output is currently twice the domestic demand. There is downward pressure on the price for steel.

Tata has aspirations to invest in Vietnam for a few years ago, but it has not been approved for several reasons such as infrastructure, power supply ...
I hope this project will be allowed to start soon; and hope that the two countries to strengthen relations in invest, trade more....

Currently China invests only one small steel mill in Thai Binh province with outdated technology, total investment of 33 mil USD, in the past it has been banned operation a long time.

A couple of years ago Viet Nam rejected a $5 bil steel mill by the Korean due to its chosen location: Van Phong bay.

This is awesome news for both nations, especially Vietnam, I have a lot of respect for the Vietnamese people who are strong and courageous, and now with a direct flight between the two countries in the the works as well this will only improve the people to people friendships and relationships.

Friendships in the 21st century are not about governments anymore but about the exchange og people, ideas, cultures, histories. Well done to India for looking East and embracing the smaller nations as friends, these nations are the ones that will always welcome a peaceful India, congrats to you guys.

What is your opinion about china? :D

What is your opinion about china? :D

Negative.

Ask Filipinos, vietnamese, indonesians, malaysians, tibetans, japanese, koreans... but the real blame lies with the CPC govt, and they are feeding their population with misleading propaganda as well. And china has possibly reached the stage of germany in 1935. Too bad, there won't be peace in our times. Unless, off course, PRC dies a peaceful death just like soviet union.

Bata Pakistan to setup $30 billion shoe factory in somalia.

Tata bought Corus steel and is the 7th largest manufacturer of steel in the world.

And Arcelor Mittal is the largest steel producer in the world, owned by Sunil Mittal (also, an Indian).

You should hope that pakistani industry does well; we wish you well..... but only if you got some time from the "terrorism industry".

Bata, in any case, is a canadian company ..... so even your "joke" is stupid. It sounds like a canadian company sets up a shoe factory in somalia, and pakistanis are getting excited.

Fantasies take you nowhere .. it's time pakistan woke up and see why it's failing, while the rest of our region is rising fast.

Looks like TATA has taken Vietnamese for a ride. In due time Vietnamese will realize they had wrong impression of "friend".
