(Times of india reports)

The assassination of Pakistani Punjab's governor Salman Taseer this week by an elite bodyguard infused with extremist views has raised alarm in Washington over the safety of the country's nuclear arsenal, with fears that similar select personnel guarding it may be open to subversion by fundamentalists.

As if some one will enter the Kahota open the door and pick the Atom bomb and then throw it on the americans.

Don thinks we should laugh it off. Poison of fundamentalism has seeped very deep into the security forces.

Suppose there is another cartoon ridiculing the holy Prophet published in any of the Western country. Some loony with links to ISI and the Military such as the bigot Hamid Gul could take it into his head to finish the perpetrators of this offence once and for all.

Admittedly, this is highly unlikely but one cannot rule it out altogether. Thus international concern regarding the possibility of Pak nukes falling into the wrong hands has some justification.

I wouldn’t have believed it possible myself but after reading some of the posts where very literate and intelligent Pakistanis are supporting extra judicial killing of Salman Taseer; I believe any thing is possible in Pakistan of today.

.
That is why you have special codes in the actual devices, and have personal reliability checks for military personnel.

And lastly Pakistani Intel was warning about this assassin since 2008, but these warnings were ignored by Punjab Police.

It's not a toy that anyone who want it will steal it or use it.

Damn the Zionist and Secularist propaganda.
Insha Allah slowly Pakistan will come in the fold of Real Islamic Republic.

lol propaganda? It's a very justified fear keeping in mind the penetration that extremism seems to have made inside Pakistan's security forces.

Killing of Salman Taseer was just an example of that extramism. Just take a look around and see for yourself how many educated and so-called 'moderate' Pakistanis are supporting the killing of Salman Taseer.

Lawyers are showering flowers on his killer.

People are justifying the act on TV debates.

People are opening facebook pages and joining them in hordes.

Even on PDF you can see many Pakistanis supporting the killer.

Is this all not enough of an indication of how deep the cancer of extremism has seeped into many of the Pakistanis' minds?

What if tomorrow one such disgruntled extremist in a security agency or ISI or PA or something steals some nuclear material or something?

Just think about it. Nobody knew that Qadri was an extremist and would kill a governer, but he did!

Who knows?

I think that world has a very justifiable right to fear.

When the SIKH bodyguard blew away Indra Gandhi (because she had desecrated the Punja Sahib Shrine by sending in the Indian Army) and gave himself up, did you fire all the Sikhs from your nuclear program on grounds of security breach?

Your idiotic comments above about Pakistan reaction to the unfortunate events are evidently devoid of accurate knowledge and ground realities!!

Our nuke are not stored like your Indian nukes that any Ram, Gopal or Varma can walk in and carry one out on a three wheel dolly cart!! :blah: :blah: :blah:

Stop trolling man! :disagree:

We didn't have students and lawyers and who not supporting the killing of Indira Gandhi.

Just watch this shocking video. Even students are supporting the killing of Salman Taseer.

I mean this is shocking! Students! :woot::woot:

Yeah what about the so-called secularist congress party massacring thousands of sikhs after her assassination.

I am not sure if anyone is saying what you are interpreting....You might be right as far as bold statement is concerned but can you deny there is a good support for the sad incident in various spheres of Pakistan??? This is a real issue and won't help by bringing India, operation blue star and its evils...These can act as diverging topics at best....

Our nuke are not stored like your Indian nukes that any Ram, Gopal or Varma can walk in and carry one out on a three wheel dolly cart!! :blah: :blah: :blah:

Ignoring trolling the issue is that such killings and so much widespread support in pakistani society for the killer makes one feel that fanatics are on rise and violence is justified if there is anything which is perceived to be anti-islam...Yes it is very unlikely that nukes can go in wrong hands but such incidents don't help the already fragile security situation of the country....so yes the concerns are not imaginary...

Yeah what about the so-called secularist congress party massacring thousands of sikhs after her assassination.

That was real bad and India paid the price for nearly a decade due to terrorism....but not sure how is it related to the current discussion....

And I as a Pakistani can tell you that the majority of Pakistanis are against this killing, how many indian's praise the murderer of Gandhi as a patriot.

See i totally believe you...There is no way majority of pakistani's can support killing...However what concerns is that whatever support this fellow has got a section of that also comes from the elites of Pakistan.....Lawyers showering flowers on this fellow might look like few people but leave a big impression on outsider for obvious reasons, no???

Again the problem is you are using India all the time and kind of saying that this incident is not good enough to be concerned...However the concern has not been raised by India, right??? Killing of Gandhi is not supported by majority of Indians and he was killed by Fanatic....The comparison between these two incidents unfortunately ends here...What you are missing here(not sure if deliberate) is that there are safe heavens in Pakistan where radical Islam is spreading and so far it is unchecked....This is getting deep into the roots of Pakistani society and such incidents gives you an inclination that all is not well there...

Now i am not making any big claims here...All i am saying is that concern raised by west is not a figment of imagination...If you look impartially there are valid reasons to be concerned....

Just mention that because Godse has many admirers in the indian community I don't know enough indians to say whether it is a minority or not, but there was a thread on this very forum, where many indian's were praising Godse as a great patriot, and somehow justifying Gandhi's murder, see we do not have a monopoly on nut cases.

I think the main problem with Pakistan is that it always tries to compare itself with India, which is a highly unrealistic comparison.

Nobody in India praise's the murderer of Gandhi. Infact it was one of the saddest day's in India and even so this incident is half a century old (living in the past as always).

Lawyers, students, teachers and even illiterates in India have respect for Gandhi.

I think i have given you enough explanation on why the concern is not figment of Imagination...It is better if we talk on that....As far as gandhi is concerned then you are comparing an incident of 6 decades ago right when Hindu-Muslim divide had devastated the country and resulted in division of country...Many indian's believed that it was Gandhi who being soft with Muslims did not stop the division with Iron hand....Having said that whosoever supports killing of Gandhi is definitely a fanatic...That said there is a big difference between then India and today's Pakistan...it is that difference which is making west nervous not just the incident...This incident is just a symptom of the diesease which is spreading in the name of Radical islam...
