The West has made big fuss about this "tankman" for 30 years now, but I never really understand the significance of this photo. "Courageous Man", or "Compassionate Troop"? The guy would have been shot dead the second he did that to a police car here.

When you want to make someone look like the boogie man then you need an iconic image. To be honest with you brother it is a powerful image until you find out the man wasn't run over by the tank. The Govt could have handled the situation better. But what western people don't understand is China needed stability it just came out from Maoism ten years early and Deng Xiaoping hadn't consolidated his power. There are always two sides to a story.
