Just an excuse. When media can reach the war zone during kargil, they can reach the badrinath shrine after the massive flood, they can reach even the remotest region of earthquake hit region, then there is no excuse they cannot reach chennai (a metro city) and report from there. I personally felt the same and Indian media need to fix its priority soon if they want to save themselves from public fury.

I was getting my updates from both national and local news channels. I live in one of the most affected places in chennai .

The age of news channels and newspaper is almost over. They are very commercialized and more concerned with entertainment than with actual news. Half of Times of India is usually covered in full page advertisements. People only turn to news when there is some incident that they want to really know about, like the Paris accident or something big in sports, otherwise the news channels have to use cheap and eye catching tricks like a celebrity travelling in metro to get the attention of a viewer who is scrolling through different channels.
