Altaf condemns Tessar Town attack by 'Taliban' | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online
KARACHI - MQM Chief Altaf Hussain Wednesday condemned the looting and firing incident in Christians dominated Tessar Town in Karachi.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Altaf Hussain expressed his sorrow over injuring of a child and other people due to militants firing.
He said that a day before the incident, Taliban had written a graffiti on the walls of a Church in Tessar Town and when the following day the Christian community people were holding a protest against the graffiti the terrorists opened firing on the peaceful protestors.
He strongly condemned the incident of Tessar Town saying that the governments granting the permission to Sufi Muhammad and Talibans to occupy the cities and killing their opponents was taking its toll and the sad incident in Tessar Town was the result of that permission.
He demanded of the President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, and Home Minister Sindh to take immediate notice of the Tessar Town incident and arrest the terrorists involved in this incident.
Meanwhile, Altaf Hussain Wednesday also talked with Advisor to Prime Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik on phone and demanded to take stern action against the culprits involved in alleged dacoity and armed attacks on houses in Tessar Town. The Interior Advisor assured the MQM Chief to take action against the culprits behind the incident and will take measures for protection of lives and properties of people.
Meanwhile, the office bearers of MQM Minorities Wing have also condemned what they said the Taliban attack on Christian people and also the threats to the locals to evacuate the area immediately.
In a press conference MQM minorities wing Incharge Asif Stephen along with Father of the Church demanded of the government to immediately arrest the terrorists involved in the incident.
They demanded of the Government to immediately arrest the Taliban involved in the incident of Tessar Town and reiterated the stance of MQM that the party would not tolerate the Talibanisation in Karachi.
Answering a question, they said that on Wednesday the terrorists torched the 12 houses and 4 copies of the Bible.
