Taliban seek to cut off Afghan population centres: Top US general

Turkey must not involve itself in afghanistan - nothing can be more damaging to their ties with the Turks. Taking control of kabul airport is like taliban taking over control of incirlik or izmir AF base without permission.

uncle sam is nobody's friend, turkey has enough experiences with uncle samite - she should understand.
It has got nothing to do with the USA…..

Turkey’s intention is clear: stay in Afganistan using a hybrid presence in cooperation with Pak in a win-win-win mode. Once the dust settles down, take part in the reconstruction of Afganistan in all possible spheres….
Taliban need to focus on strategy of circling major cities and take as much districts as possible. The recent moves to attack cities in numbers is exposing them to airstrikes (especially todays US airstrikes have caused significant casualties to Taliban) is costing them heavily, they need to revisit their plan.

I can understand their urge to take kandahar which in turn will provide them a huge boost both morally and strategically especially with the negotiations going on but they should hold it off for now and focus more on taking the contested districts and dismantling kabul forces infrastructure in suburbs, consolidating the districts they gained. Pin down the cities by controlling entry and exit points and roads. Limit internal city fighting to gurella type warfare with IED's, SVBIED, and rockets and try to limit their own casualties. Limit the regime to cities.

This type of large numbers frontal assult is getting them kilked in dozens especially when they are prone to airstrikes (both US and Kabul).

Form defence belts around the cities and do not let anything in and out without damage.

As Mullah Umar used to say 'They have the watches we have the time', Taliban need to understand this now more than ever. Thus is the mistake kabul is betting on, taliban are loosing manpower because of this and this will make the areas they hold more vunerable to kabul.

Find a solution to damage the airbases/assets of kabul. Dont run off to attack cities in large numbers which triggers US air strikes atleast before August 31.

We should remember that only with the arrival of stinger that Taliban/resistance were able to defeat the soviets, before that Taliban were held back.
Your suggestions are OK except for destroying the airport, which means no foreign aid to keep the folks away from starving! And, the Taliban’s efforts to gain the international legitimacy is lost….

As for the unwanted aircrafts, they can be destroyed much earlier than reaching the airport….

we must drag india directly into the conflict somehow

would like to see taliban defeat the greatest superpower

It is very smart tactic. Taliban do not want to destroy infrastructure and life whilst taking over territory.

For foreign aid land routes are far more feasable. Wheat rice stable food transport can never be sustained through air.

Airfields through which kabul airforce operates as well as its assets need to be dismantled. India is supplying ammunition and weapons through airports, recently tons of artillary rounds were transported. It is more of a weapons corridor than an aid corridor at the moment.

Sofar so good but Taliban need to be smart, frontal assults on cities where kabul regime is entrenched is not the most wise strategy when they have the advantave of air power.

To me it looks more like an American bluff, they want Taliban to change their war tactics from gurilla warfare to open field.

Lay ambushes around the cities and form a strong defense belt around the cities which can withstand air assults. Start gurilla warfare in cities not front assults, conserve and increase manpower from actively recruiting from captured districts. Dismantle kabul regime military infrastructure outside of cities first. Limit kabul to cities. Take the rest of the border posts, and consolidate gained districts.

Try to target airfield and air assets through improvised complex attacks.

Advantage of air power is not much, as Taliban are targeting the air screws including pilots and all contractors support staff are exiting as well. Ghani and USA want Indian troops on ground - that's what they all screaming for, especially after USA having no further options to attack by air after troops exit.

Kabul is not the be all. Taliban can siege Kabul for a long time whereas securing the borders and everything from their inwards is the key. I suppose at one point China and Russia will back Taliban formed government, irrespective of Kabul being taken over or not.

Air power is a very crucial element.

Apart from kabul air force US is doing heavy air strikes for the last 3 days (dont know what the US end game is but in my opinion they will influence Afghanistan from outside through airpower, and air strikes will grow once they get out fully) If Taliban loose manpower against air attacks by gathering in numbers around cities than they will become vunerable to kabul ground offensive.

That is exactly what i am saying go for the ports and contested districts and consolidate gained ground. Do not loose much manpower and play it smart against cities.

On the other hand if they take kandahar city it will be a huge development, but US is actively preventing that through airstrikes, so Taliban need to change their strategy on how to take cities.

this is something Turkey can easily do while staying outside of Afghanistan. Otherwise it is looking head to head. As for Pak, we are non-interfering.

They need to disable Kabul airport to really put the pressure on the imported Kabul government...

This is where the regional countries need to play their cards. If these countries specially Pakistan bans all flights to kabul as an excuse to "security situation", Kabul will fall soon. When there are no flights, then there are no supplies. So the Turks can sit at Kabul airport all they want but eventually it will be just useless.
Etdo’an usually gets what he wants….

Irrespective, he needs to stay the hell out, and mind his own business.

as long as Afghanistan is able to preserve its airpower Taliban wont be bale to do much
