If Chinese BRI initiative is frequently targeted in Pakistani I wonder what mess it would be in Afghanistan which is a hotbed of various insurgency groups. This is a very smart move from China. If Afghans are busy in jobs and development, they won't be busy fighting wars against each other.

The only thing that may hinder their investment in Afghanistan is that the Taliban are unwilling to pay interest, as they hold true to Islamic principles.

Any investment made would require upfront cash from China and then only through profits could the cost be earnt back. This is not a bad thing though - it will mean China will be selective about the projects it invests in and be vigilant around ensuring they get a good return from the projects.

Also Afghanistan could pay the cost of infrastructure projects in raw materials that could be mined. We know there is a wealth of minerals in Afghanistan that the Americans were after.

You have to give credit to China, they are taking on the role of a responsible world power, all whilst benefit economically and politically, without any coersion.
