Taliban envoys have warned of growing frustration in the insurgents' ranks at slow progress in talks with America, as hardline military commanders push their negotiators to pull out of the discussions.

Taliban military leaders have told their negotiating team that the slow-moving talks risk detracting from the annual spring offensive and undermining the resolve of their fighters.

Nearly 18-months of stop-start talks in Doha are currently at a stand off over US demands the Taliban significantly cut attacks in return for a deal heralding a troop withdrawal.

Mike Pompeo, US secretary of state, last week demanded “demonstrable evidence” the Taliban can and will cut violence before signing a deal to usher in peace talks with the Afghan government and a withdrawal of American troops....

These idiots think that they can push US too much. Someone should remind them of early 2000s.

. .
That was a different time. Today's US is tired, frustrated, spent billions of dollars and have nothing to show for. Taliban have all the time in the world. US does not have that luxury.

Yeah bit if push comes to shove US won't hesitate to level Afg. again. They will leave but with leaving things as they are now or will they leave after carpet bombing.

Yes they can push USA too much. Somebody should remind you and USA and this nation has history of burying super powers and USA ran like cowards from Vietnam and from Iraq and from Somalia and will run from here.

And how does that change anything? Taliban was very weak then because they had a civil war with Northern Alliance.

Now they're capturing ground everyday and giving ANA huge casualties. The US will pull out sooner or later.

American warfighting capability and capacity has not diminished; American appetite for coping with political ground realities of Afghanistan on the other hand...

USA did not run from Iraq and Somalia.

Anyways, what is here to rejoice? More people will die in the coming years and Afghanistan will remain a headache for Pakistan and more.

Afghan Taliban should consider declaring ceasefire if they desire breakthrough in talks with US. This is a pointless excercise otherwise.

US is increasingly unpredictable in these matters.

Excellent information in this link: https://www.thebureauinvestigates.com/drone-war/data/afghanistan-reported-us-covert-actions-2019

Trump administration have hinted before that Afghan Taliban have no leverage in these talks. Some people have bought into the hype of Afghan Taliban taking over Afghanistan by force - not happening unless US stop supporting Kabul Regime.

.
Taliban understand US mentality very well. Trump made a mistake by playing games like a reality tv show. Taliban know the US is frustrated and will leave. Taliban fought for 19 years, faced carpet bombing and MOABs, yet they survived and thrived. What is there with the US to scare taliban? The US have used all its weapons except nuclear, so why would taliban fall for any stupid tricks by the yanks?
Taliban are looking if they can get a good deal from US, else they are willing to fight till the end. Reality is that taliban ground commanders are against any negotiations and are of the view that they are winning on the ground, they fought 19 years n can fight another 19, and yet are more stronger than in 2001. The taliban leaders however are trying negotiations and if they dnt get a good deal, they will abolish the negotiations and fight for complete control.

We will be witnessing the fall of Kabul soon, to Taliban forces.

US will start scrambling to leave Afghanistan.

Then you will see a very strong pro-Pakistan government arise in Afghanistan, people to people contacts and friendships will increase. We can afford to put more troops on our Eastern border and apply pressure on India.

It is welcome news. Even in Northern Afghanistan, Taliban has become very strong.

US already have Iran as their enemy in the region

In Afghanistan, Iran is their best ally.

Afghanistan is part of politics but if home story is spun than this will change.
For USA spending 30-40b$ and few dozen soldiers is NOTHING..its peanuts..so if they push hard the talks will collapse and we will back to square one

Anyway trump is on the way of winning again

.
US foreign policies are based on compartmentalization. It means that they have no perpetual enemies and friends. Iran is their enemy in the Arabia but the same Iran is their best friend in Afghanistan. Munafiques always act like this. Therefore, you have to be very tough in dealing with munafiques as the Taliban are doing now with US. If you show weaknesses, US will eat you alive. Taliban knows it very well.

The US lost over a trillion dollars and now are negotiating with the "enemy" they fought and lost some of their best special operators against.

Your understanding of war (Haris Ali) is very similar to America's (bomb 'em to the Stone Age) --- the problem is that "leveling" doesn't work when an indigenous insurgency has popular support and enough caves to wait things out (sort of already living in the Stone Age!)

As others have pointed out, America no doubt has the military might to vaporize entire continents (let alone weak countries), but it can't due to a number of reasons --- especially these days. The Afg T know this very well --- and a bit of pressure through this tactic is a good idea to get things moving in the State Dept and to override CIA wishes of not reaching a peace deal.

And ?
Usa Economy is 20+ trillion ..
It has ZERO foreign loans(as all loans are in dollars)

It still attracks all innovation and invention form all over the world..

Usa will decrease its spending to minimum and let the afghans bleed..it last 5 year spending have been less than 100b$ ..OR less than foreign AID it gives (exculding afghanistan)
