It's not about india being genius. If india is good at one thing, it's supporting terrorism. It did that in 1971 pretty successfully and is now doing it successfully again.

As far as NATO goes, again, it's not there to fight Taliban.

Main reasons are to stop Chinese influence and interests in the region, and to denuclearize Pakistan.
