yeah, if they were legal and actually had documents to file.
If not when they get older some end up like this since they get no retirement benefits. Unfortunately this is a very common sight.
Flushing has many Chinese like this. They don't know English and can't even drive.
You think all Chinese immigrants to the USA have degrees, because your social circle can only contact Chinese with degrees.
Decades ago, China still was an extremely poor country. Most of our predecessors lack knowledge and skills(English was not taught in China's early nine-year compulsory education), but they still have the traditional advantages of Chinese people, such as friendliness, politeness, observe discipline and law.
They came to USA in pursuit of a richer life, everyone has the right to pursue good lift, which is normal and worthy of respect.
Not only China, but also any country and nation has such a group of people pursuing their American dream in USA, their lives are not rich and stable. I think the American elite have the responsibility and obligation to take care of them.
These people have usually lived in USA for decades, and they are already Americans. Moreover, to be honest, the Chinese govt will not give nationality to all Chinese foreigners, and it is almost impossible for them to return to China.
