Syrian armed forces have continued their battle against foreign-backed militants, making further advances in the countrys largest city of Aleppo.
Clashes are taking place between Syrian army soldiers and militants in Aleppos Noor al-Deen al-Zanki.
Reports say that 18 insurgents were killed in the clashes.
Earlier on Sunday, the Syrian army announced that it had made more gains in Barzeh district, near the capital, Damascus.
The announcement comes days after fighting between the Syrian army forces and al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front militants.
On September 14, the forces said they had raided militant hideouts in Hasaka, confiscated weapons, and gained control over a strategic mountain in the countrys north.
The militants were reportedly trying to sneak into the northern side of Abo al-Duhour airport, near Idlib.
Also on the same day, clashes broke out among the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and other militant groups in Boukamal town.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting militants operating inside Syria fighting to overthrow the government of Bashar al-Assad.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced due to the violence.
The UN refugee agency also said some 4.2 million people have been displaced inside Syria since the beginning of the conflict in the Arab country.
