People demonstrated in the city of Sylhet on Tuesday against any move of the Awami League led government to hand over 150 acres of Bangladesh territory at Padua border at Goainghant upazila to India.
Hundreds of socio-political activists joined a human chain in front of the Central Shaheed Minar in the city under the banner of Amra Jaintabashi in protest against any such move.
At a rally held later, the protesters said there was an unholy move to give up the land in the possession of Bangladesh.
They said that the interests of the nation and the citizens are not safe in the hands of this government pursuing a weak-kneed foreign policy.
They said that a government that pursues such weak kneed foreign policy can do anything to satisfy its foreign mentors.
They said that was no reason to give up more than 150 acres of disputed territory in the possession of Bangladesh at the Padua border under Goainghat upazila in Sylhet.
Chaired by Amra Jaintabasi president Bashir Ahmad, the rally was addressed by, among others, former MP and district BNP vice-president Dildar Hosen Selim, the party leader Mahbubur Rab Chowdhury Faysal, Arif Iqbal Nehal, advocate Kamal Ahmad, Al-Aslam Mumin and Durniti Muktakaran Forum president Nasir Uddin.
