Syed Ashraf quits as AL gen secy

Dhaka: Syed Ashraful Islam has resigned as general secretary of the ruling Awami League following numerous speculation that he might be removed from his post due his poor performance. Confirming the resignation on Saturday midnight, a top ranking party leader preferring anonymity said, “Syed Ashraf submitted his resignation letter to party’s president, also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday evening.” The source added,

“Sheikh Hasina asked Syed Ashraf to take back the letter and she didn’t receive it.” Daily Prme News also reported on Friday that Syed Ashraf could be removed from his party post following the party’s worst electoral debacle and the party high command’s move to overhaul the party rank and file to overcome the frustration that gripped the grassroots. -

I wonder why it is the fault of only Ashraful that AL lost all the 5 City Mayor elections? SHW is more and more responsible for the loss. Why does not she resign from the party post?

Not only that in a democratic system it is the unwritten law to resign the entire Cabinet when the election results show that ruling party does not enjoy people's support any more.

But the fact is that the people are fed up with BAL and SHW for the killings, gooms, Peelkhana carnage, Hallmark and other grafts, stock exchange robbery and misrule. And to top these all, SHW has alienated BD from the Muslim world, and has met all demands of India to the detriment of our national security and interest.
