Swedish Defence Minister holds talks with Parrikar on Defence Cooperation

The Swedish Defence Minister Mr. Peter Hultqvist is on an official visit to India from 09 to 12 June 2015. The visit has been scheduled soon after the recently concluded visit of the President Shri Pranab Mukherjee to Sweden, when both sides concluded 24 MoUs for cooperation in various fields.

Mr. Hultqvist met the Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar here, yesterday. During the meeting both sides discussed issues of mutual interests concerning bilateral defence cooperation and regional security scenario. Both sides exchanged views on rising scourge of terrorism and agreed to cooperate in this regard. The issue of participation of Swedish firms in defence manufacturing in India under the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative was also discussed by both sides. They agreed to continue to explore opportunities for enhancing cooperation between defence establishments of both sides in mutually agreed areas.

The Swedish Defence Minister is on a visit to Bangalore today for interactions with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL).

Bengaluru, June 11, 2015:

Mr. Peter Hultqvist, Minister for Defence, Sweden visited HAL along with his team today. The visit covered LCA Tejas Division (LCA production facility), design and flight hangars of Advance Light Helicopter (ALH).

Mr. V. M. Chamola, Director (HR) and senior officials from HAL accompanied the delegation. Mr. Hultqvist arrived in India on Tuesday on four-day official visit (June 9-12, 2015).

Dr. Harsh Vardhan to lead the Indian delegation in the Mission Innovation Ministerial

Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Environment, Forests and Climate Change Dr. Harsh Vardhan will be leading an Indian delegation for participation in the Mission Innovation Ministerial being held at Malmo-Sweden during 22-23 May, 2018.

Mission Innovation is a global platform of 23 countries and European Union aimed at accelerating clean energy innovations through enhanced Government funding, greater public-private sector partnership and enhanced global cooperation. India is founding member of Mission Innovation and part of the Steering Committee besides co-lead of innovation challenges on smart grids, off grids and sustainable bio-fuels. During the visit, Minister will show case India’s commitment to clean energy through research, development and demonstration programmes initiated in partnership with Mission Innovation countries in various domains of clean energy. The Minister will also explore opportunities for research cooperation with Mission Innovation countries for affordable clean energy innovations. Besides participation in Mission Innovation Ministerial, Dr Harsh vardhan will also hold bilateral meetings with his counter parts from Denmark, Sweden, Canada and European Commission.
