What's new

Suzuki doesn't see any reason why they should discontinue producing the Mehran in Pakistan

That is because our bureaucracy is incompetent bunch, who are corrupt to core. People at Pakistan Auto Manufacturing are bribing them day in and day out just so they can sell cheap shit at higher price.

These companies have become enormous, and they try to kill everything that endanger their profits.

New entrants are most welcome, but unless they work with these Auto Mafia , they wont succeed in Pakistan.

.
As long as Toyota, Honda or the new entrants come up with good hatch back options, mehran, cultus and swift are here to stay!

Renault have taken a lead in new entrants but for hatch back option i look forward to VW.

Even if and when new entrants are available on the market, price will remain an important factor and this is where Mehru has a huge advantage.

Not anymore.

Suzuki Mehran benefits from corruption and nothing else.

Have a look at simply whose buying these and you will have your mystery solved.

The Pakistani people are not Skoda crazy but practical people. Dumb policy making of benefiting a select few people.

It's not like it is a dowry currency. It's Pakistan.

It is their very practicality that leads them to a buy a cheap and reliable car that gets the job done, with good aftermarket support. Mehru is the CG125 of cars in Pakistan.

CD 70

Cultus is CG 125

How long was it that you were last in Pakistan?

Huge governmental contracts has kept this dinosaur ancient shizz alive in Pakistan.

As an American how can you defend Mehran Suzuki? Like this must be a very painful thing to do.

Kuch to khauf karo.
Kahin to chor do.

I am merely pointing out the wisdom of the buying public in Pakistan. :D

As always, it is not what they say, it is what they actually do - which is buying Mehrus.

. . . .
That you can force feed bovines.

That analogy does not apply here. The public buys cars voluntarily. After all, nobody is forcing them to buy a Mehru. They do it by choice, by not buying any number of alternatives such as JDM cars, or other models.

They don't.

The market it enjoys is simply government lobbyists to further deepen that pocket.

Suzuki pays the ten percent while the rest don't.

Simply put in your lingual.

Sales to government are only a small part of total sales of the Mehru. The public continues to buy as many of them as Suzuki can put out on the market. Why should Suzuki stop in this case?

rural folk dont know.. neither have more to spend on imports...

So what is wrong with letting rural folk buy what they can afford?

Once here the public consumes them smartly.

But why are they even here? Corruption.

Bolan and Mehran both.

Trust me Pakistanis are not lining up to buy this crap. There are no Pakistanis who have mehran poster above their bed.

You have made mehran your personal jihad. Go drive it in Texas and Alabama.

I have no problem with the Pakistani public's buying habits. The numbers and prices speak for themselves, no matter what the cause. Suzuki is right here: there is no reason for them to stop building the Mehru as of yet. IF and when there is a legal bar, or if the market forces turn against it, only then would it make sense for them to stop producing it.
