Interest in the Israeli defense industries as IAI already sold three intelligence aircraft to India

A new Indian tender for supplying intelligence collection aircraft is generating considerable interest in Israel. “India is constantly surprising with demands for new systems,” said an Israeli source.
India’s Ministry of Defense published a Request For Information (RFI) during the weekend for the supply of nine propeller aircraft, which will have electronic intelligence (ELINT) collection systems installed onboard them. Two of the aircraft will be solely designated for ELINT collection, with the others intended for missions, which will include the operation of jamming measures against enemy systems.
The RFI states that all nine aircraft must be installed with the ELINT systems. The date for submitting the information is May 21.
Israel is not formally referring to the tender. However, Israel Aerospace Industries has provided similar systems onboard aircraft of the kind mentioned in the Indian Ministry of Defense’s RFI, three early-warning aircraft that were assembled from Russian Ilyushin E-76 aircraft.
According to assessments, the tender is valued at several hundred million dollars.
