Supreme Court Pakistan and COAS Bajwa Extension: News & Discussions

IK for some wrong reasons, was shifting the Nawaz blame to the courts which again in my opinion was wrong.
that blame lies squarely with the courts. not IK or the army. the courts granted him bail, and when the govt wanted them to sign the bond, it was the courts that let nawaz go scott free. the CJ said that the LHC only set the modalities, wth are modalities?

The notification has to be signed by the President. A summary has to be moved by the Sec Def.

Just show that piece of paper.

Last week president also issued a notice of an appointment of new CJP so how can he forgets to sign extension of COAS. I think AG is responsible for this bureaucratic error if that's the case.

I provided reality; you made a logic out of it and then cited my post useless leaning on that logic.
So, what, then, is the reason for bajwa's extension? clearly, he doesnt trust his subordinates(or IK doesnt) to be good commanders after him.

That's the whole issue here.

Now I don't know the exact words which have been said in court, but I think the issue here is why did the PM office put out a letter regarding the extension, and not the President's office.

If there hasn't been a notification signed by the President and published in the gazette, then this is a much bigger problem. The government is going by the announcement of the PM office as an official extension letter, and this is incompetency of the highest level. Even I know how the process goes, I am sure others in the govt would too. And in this case, the AG is lying to the court. Much bigger problem.

But if all the formalities have been completed, then I am sure the CJP might have been shown the docs, and the AG will apologize tomorrow and everything is good.

And finally, in the third case, if everyone is playing a double game and Immy K reneges on his decision, then it's a much bigger clusterfck than we thought.

But in all honesty, I think it's the first case.

Let's see.

BTW, is the gazette published online?

You have summed up all the possibilities perfectly. I think this is a mess up on Government's part as we have all seen a notification published by the PM Office, but not from the President House.

Law Ministry and AG seems to be sleeping as we all know how this procedure works. SC wouldn't have suspended the notification if President's approval was presented in the court.

Before granting him the bail, court did asked the govt that whether they will take the responsibility of his health or not, if so they will not issue the bail. That time govt quietly stepped back. Remember, it was the govt appointed medical team, which suggested that Nawaz should move abroad for the treatment. Govt should had made their point stronger that time. Govt buckled up under media pressure that time. They only came stronger, when they introduced bond part but by that time, it was too late.

So in my opinion, govt and the courts both are responsible for his easy and legal 'escape'.

. . .
In other channel, AG is denying his resignation while ary news is displaying a ticker that he has resigned.

Chief is not happy. Govt didn't do the procedure well. AGP resigns.

i think it is better that matter of army chief extension is dealt within military courts

. .
what is stupidity in this,if anyone has concerns over extension decision he should approach military courts as civil courts are mess and army has its own code of conduct so better keep army matters out of politics and civil judiciary, there should be independence in army regarding dealing with its matters
I think you are stupid.

Please read the constitution of Pakistan, Supreme Court will always have the last say in any legal matter, whether the military or civil.
