Supreme Court of Pakistan Suspends extention notification of COAS n notice issued to COAS , AG , Defence ministry and adjourned hearing till tommorrow while converted it into Suo moto action . CJ said Prime minister cannot extend tenure of COAS but only President can do it .

i think major reason is precedent set by gen Raheel Sharif which changed culture of army to great extent

Looks like SC and govt are on the collision court. Govt backing Musharaf really irked the CJ hence taking his first ever unprecedented suto muto action just before getting retired.

That's bullshit, president already issued the extension as a formality in Aug while we all know that it's PM who always make the decision.

Read attorney General statement he is clearly saying that president has already issued the notification in Aug. Since the notification was not publicised that time, hence CJ is making a guess or wants the govt to publicised the notification. Nevertheless why SC asked COAS to make his presence in the court as well and why court want to dicuss the extension with him? Isn't it up to the govt to make the decision? Why interfering?

I was always intrigued by that notification signed by IK. Such notifications are generally issued by some official of Defense Ministry after due process. However, I thought in Pakistan PM is empowered to issue such notification.

The CJP has been told by the AG that the President has already signed the notification.

So, whether or not you or I have seen it is moot.
