What's new

Suppose 2030 China will reach the same level with US, Now What? Can China imagine new Technology?

No, I guess.

It's culturally and systematically different.

Just look at Japan, the Japanese just knows how to improve someone else inventions rather than inventing world-changing thing on their own.

And that makes them stuck because they cannot move forward to the next development step.

China is no different than Japan, except China is still poorer and developing, so there's an illusion of progress and moving forward.
That's a myth, the japanese practically invented the modern urban Asian life as we know it, from the 80s, with the popularization of TV, computers, fridge, rice cooker, cars/bikes, trains.
The korean are improving upon it, and chinese might usher a new era altogether.

I hope there's a time for us SEAians tho.

No, Japanese and Chinese are superficially similar but the cultural core is different.

Japan was a feudal warrior society. Because of that, their fundamental understanding of Chinese culture revolves around 忠, loyalty.

China was an empire. The emperor was a military commander, but did not govern through the military like knights or samurai. instead he had a civilian government. Chinese emphasize 仁, benevolence.

That is why Japanese are good employees while Chinese might be a little lazy or absentminded when working for others. We view rules as more like guidelines and how much to follow them as a matter of their reasonableness. Japanese are very rigid rule followers.

But it is also why China has startup culture and Japan doesn't.

Sometime in the future China might become a superpower with no rivals. You can see what a mess China will create

For starters look at North Korea and Myanmar

??? those are about as "chinese created" as the US or Canada is.
china did not force NK to be a dystopian communist-but-also-monarchy nation. china has consistently suggested that NK open up like china did and unlike the us, china left korea as soon as the korean war was over and does not control the nation in any way. in fact it only intervened in NK in the first place because the US was attacking all the way to the chinese border while its supreme commander was yelling out loud about how he wanted to go further and invade and maybe nuke china, as far as china was concerned it was either fight in korea or fight inside china itself.

just like china did not create myanmar nor its military.

china is merely willing to do business with those countries the same way it does business with the us or canada and does not directly intervene unless china itself was threaten, such as the case with korea.

america greatest enemy demographically and culturally right now is white males lol

The biggest problem of USA is diversity. Now those who want to study hard can go China. Those who want to know something about 100++ genders and why rapist, murder, are big victim of societal witchhunt can go USA and study.

you have every right sir but i have no doubts
Allegations of planting bugs in African Parliament have been made on Chinese contractors.
Chinese security firms which are 51% owned by state, are extensively deployed in Africa.
You may challenge the authenticity or the level of truth of these allegations and discuss the implications...
In my opinion, these are indicators of increase in Chinese hard power.
I hope China doesn't become what it set out to counter.

Earlier than that. I think Japan started the urban high-rise living in the 1950's during the post-war rebuild. Plus everything you mentioned (other than computers) existed at that time. The consumer rice cooker was invented in the 1950's (by Toshiba BTW).

Behold, the four great modern China inventions;

Dockless shared bicycles
High-speed rail
Electronic payment system
E--commerce

China's 'four great new inventions' in modern times

Wow this has to be one of the saddest articles ever by China's government mouthpiece.

Here is the link again:

China's 'four great new inventions' in modern times

Also i believe Germany pioneered the dockless bicycle back in the 1990's.

Obviously HSR has been around for at least 50 years so it was around well before China came into the picture. Sorry China.

Yes, things like AliPay were likely the first phone systems for payments since China never had a "card" culture nor the infrastructure to support it. So I will give China a thumbs up for mobile payments.

E-Commerce? People have been ordering online since the 1990's. Even Amazon was started in the mid 1990's selling books. Back in the 1990's your only choice for cutting edge computer stuff was by e-commerce. Want the latest 3D graphics card/motherboard/CPU/RAM...the best ones weren't sold in stores. Sorry China.

B2B e commerce was started by Alibaba. All those other examples were B2C.

Pulsar based navigation, the only absolute positioning system for deep space

3D printed parks

Pioneered does not mean it started, B2B ecommerce started way before Alibaba, in fact, B2B ecommerce started prior to age of internet, it started with Telephone line. (E stand for electronic by the way, it does not just mean over the internet)

The general accepted definition for e commerce involves the internet.

I provided a source that stated Alibaba was the first to conduct B2B e commerce. Can you find a contradicting source?

3D printed parks...wow..please tell me that isn't the best thing you could think of off the top of your head.
3D printing of concrete structures is a revolutionary construction technology as previously concrete construction was slow, manual and required frames that had to be later removed.

I don't know where you learn your concept.

eCommerce is a concept started in 1969 when a few people in the US realise they can sell their lingerie over the phone to crossdresser and taken their credit card information as a form of Electronic Payment. There are nowhere in the term eCommerce suggested that it HAVE TO BE OVER THE INTERNET.

Even in your reference to Wikipedia, it acknowledged the concept of eCommerce was coined in 1984

The term was coined and first employed by Dr. Robert Jacobson, Principal Consultant to the California State Assembly's Utilities & Commerce Committee, in the title and text of California's Electronic Commerce Act, carried by the late Committee Chairwoman Gwen Moore (D-L.A.) and enacted in 1984.

So how it was a "general accepted definition" for eCommerce to be over internet when the term itself come before the age of internet??

Also, as I said before, your "source" said that Alibaba "Pioneer" B2B eCommerce, that does not mean Alibaba started it or invented it. Wi-Fi was pioneered by AT&T when they popularise 802.11 Wi-fi System, does that mean AT&T "Invented" Wi-fi?

You probably think it's an American who invented Wi-Fi Technology, well, It's the Australian CSIRO.

You can play semantics any way you want, the neutral audience understands.

It's not semantics, it's history.....

This thread is about innovation, just because you make something wellknown does not make you invented said concept....

And to say it's "general accepted definition" for eCommerce to related to the Internet is just plain wrong, the e in eCommerce stand for electronic, but that does not mean the medium of the trading platform, it was referring to the payment made over electronically instead of physically (ie over the counter). That is the general accepted definition of eCommerce.......

Again, how it makes that definition when the term itself was coined BEFORE the age of internet? This I want to know.
