What's new

Suppose 2030 China will reach the same level with US, Now What? Can China imagine new Technology?

I hope none of you fell for the lie about how China prefers having a multi-polar world. The world is the mountain and canNOT support more than one tiger. This is the basic truth. The multi-polar world China actually talking about is where China is THE tiger, and the rest like USA, UK, etc. are PAPER TIGERs. Com'on folks, who you think makes the better world ruler, China or USA?

Err..yes. That is still a drop in the bucket.

Another example:
When you walk in your city and you look closely at every item around you how much do you attribute to traditional Chinese influences vs Western influences?

Did you get all these ideas for your lifestyle from China or the West?

China has been full of poor people for generations...and only lately woke up after adopting lifestyles of the West. Now they are finally beginning to prosper.

Previously they laughed at Western ways completely convinced their own way of communal farmer living was the correct lifestyle...but after decades of going nowhere they rejected it as a failure...and relented to the Western way...not a new way created by them.

Why does that make them better rulers? That they could see their own path was a failure so they jumped on the worn path used by others and are trying to race to the front?

I think the main reason people buy iPhones is because they work not because of exotic features.

This is like why people buy the Toyota Camry. This a boring car that isn't even very fast. However as long as you change the oil it will drive for 250,000 miles with almost no repairs. It sells well because it is extremely low maintenace...that's the main reason.

So it has nothing to do with marketing. Toyota can run flashy advertisements or no advertisements at all and still sell a ton of them year after year.

If somebody makes a more reliable car then Toyota can start worrying...otherwise they just cruise along at their own speed and don't care about anybody else no matter what the latest gimmick is.

"...the Camry has been the best-selling sedan in America almost every year for the past 20-plus years."

That reliability is the result of the worlds best quality management system. Toyota is a world leader in innovation, it is built in at every level in every area of the company through the Kaizen principal.

Toyota itself is already facing heavy competition due to their lacking in EVs, maybe in Japan they will be surpassed by Nissan soon.

About Apple itself, its biggest market is USA, China and Japan. China is already cooling on Apple due to US-China antagonism, while the yen depreciation is making Apple phones expensive in Japan, Sharp and Sony phones are increasing getting back market share.

I think both "just werk" brands like Toyota and Apple will not have their standings in the future.

No, they aren't.

Apple iPhones make up half of all premium smartphones sold in China

No, the Chinese have never been westernized, they are just modernization. We like to wear jeans and T-shirts, but we don't like to wear suits. We like watching movies and concerts, but we don't like watching Western dramas. We have never abandoned our culture. Calligraphy, Peking Opera, writing, martial arts and so on. We are not westernized.

Modernization is not equal to westernized!

That was then, the iPhone 14 is just announced and there's a lot of disappointment in China and Japan net space because of pricing and next to no new features.

Well that has nothing to do with the "antagonism" you spoke of..right...

No. We are not on the same road as you.

We are a country where the people rule the plutocrats through the govt.
And you are a country where the plutocrats rule the people through the government.

We are a country that relies on Global trade. Trade needs peace and stability, so we oppose any war.
And you are a country that relies on domestic demand to promote economic growth. War is the largest domestic demand, so you are always pursuing the next war.

If human civilization continues to be led by war maniacs, our civilization will perish sooner or later.

Interesting way of looking at it. So if suddenly a town in the US was converted to all siheyuan in 1950 you wouldn't call it "Easternized" just simply "backwards".

You must first understand that we Chinese are not stupid, and our culture pursues practical interests rather than vanity.

We also understand that any right needs to be restricted, and any ruling party needs an opposition party. Why can CCP still maintain high efficiency and capacity without opposition parties. Because all western media are our opposition parties, which are the power that ordinary Chinese can use to restrict and supervise CCP.

If China becomes a unipolar country, who will benefit? Yes, maybe senior officials and billionaires can benefit. Can we ordinary people get these benefits? Not necessarily. Even our ruling party may degenerate because of its lack of restraint. We may become another country. Therefore, the pursuit of a multipolar world is not a slogan, but the consensus of almost all Chinese people.

You must understand that we Chinese are not stupid.

We support CCP because of its ability and efficiency, which does not mean that we will always trust it. On the contrary, we never trust anyone in power. By the way, I am a Member of the CCP myself.

Before you thought that quadrangles were backward, did you really understand quadrangles(siheyuan)?

With all due respect, you can't afford a real quadrangle.

Real quadrangles even have private gardens, I mean thousands of square meters of private gardens.

Modern quadrangles are not uncommon, but they sell for tens of millions of dollars.

Let's first understand what is the real high-end residence in China:
