Most people here rail agianst the Government. But the Government could not have agreed to open the supply route without the backing of the Army.

I dont understand why these people blame their government. The Americans dealt with pakistan military. Your government parrots whatever the army tells them.

Allow the government to have real power and them proceed to blame them.

2. SOS H/Clinton made a verbal apology to FM HR Khar on the phone.
3. there is a joint statement to be issued. could be delayed due to 4th of July celebs in the US.
4. makes SOD L/panatta look like a "SOD" that he is as we have not re-negotiated any new rates for NATO/ISAF/US containers plying on our GLOC.
5. we got an apology, albeit not an 'outright' apology but it serves our purpose.
6. opens the door for 'normal' mil-to-mil' business. resupply of material witheld because of the ongoing 'tussle'
7. KL funds will be used for budgetary support, freeing domestic for other areas.
8. CSF will be released for use by the Govt to pay its bills. army will not use these funds.
9. AND FINALLY BOTH SIDES 'BLINKED' MOST IMPORTANTLY.

the issue of drones is not resolved but much progress has been made towards new TOE's but these may be subject to our 'behaviour' in the WoT. that is to say, what are we going to do about the haqqanis, quetta shura etc.

PK needs to make a comprehensive policy statement to improve its credibility amongst the nations of the world!

Reopening of supply route is never a solution out of "isolation".

US would have worked out alternative route if Pakistan would have maintained its stance.

now it reaffirms the fact that Pakistan can be dispensable and can be made a push over.

The better solution was high bargaining something for the transit.

A high speed rail for goods transport built from port to border on US money would have been brilliant.

Benefits

Can be used for passenger travels in Pakistan for future.
Less wear and tear on highways.
Less casualties due to attacks on convoy.
Lesser fuel.
Its Free..

How else would you explain a total reversal of stand from a demand to USD 5,000 per container to the original figure of $250 and an acceptance of the carefully crafted non-apology..

sirjee u are entitled to your view. AZ had nothing to do with this. this was driven by the military all the way. kiyani was very adamant but it was the CJSC who brokered the deal. deals will always be made between countries like us and 'big brother'. we should put our house in order economically, then only we can do the things which strong and vibrant nations can do. till then bhai jan ahoye hosi !!!

right sir ! if they had worked it out (which they did) then why keeping coming back to our GLOC. because money is eveything. its hurting the US. spending an extra 2.1 bill $ is not peanuts even for the US.

That is something I fail to understand. There were many news about US on the mat.
