Super Sukhois to give India a generation leap

according to one source super mki will have engine having 15000 kg thrust

What

In MAKS 2011 international aviation show held in Moscow recently. President of Irkut Corporation of Russia Alexy Fedorov told reporters that Russia and India have reached agreement on the technical specification of the Super 30.

Under “Super 30” upgrade program, last batch of yet to be received Sukhoi su 30 MKI will be first upgraded to Super 30 standards. But details of upgrades have come in few and stretched in media reports .idrw.org with its sources have put together what upgrades Sukhoi 30 will be getting.

Avionics upgrade: Super Sukhoi 30 will get new cockpit layout with new upgraded avionics, onboard computers, electronic warfare systems ,which will also include active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, replacing the older N-011M Bars radar with its passive electronic scanning antenna.

Radar planned for “Super Sukhoi 30 “will be Russian Phazotron Zhuk-AE Active Electronically Scanned Array AESA radars. The X-band radar can track 30 aerial targets in the track-while-scan mode and engage six targets simultaneously in attack mode. An alternative AESA is available for the Super 30 in the form of Tikhomirov’s NIIP. Which was an experimental AESA revealed at MAKS 2009.

Weapons upgrade: Super 30 upgrade program will also enable Su-30MKI fighters to equip them with BrahMos missiles. But only first 42 aircrafts will be able to carry heaver BrahMos missiles under its belly, since it will require some strengthing of the airframe, even India’s still to be tested Nirbhay and LRCM will be able to be carried by this 42 odd su 30’s.

Another major upgrade in regards to weapons package will be that upgraded Super 30 will be able to integrate non-Russian weapons.

Stealth: To reduce Radar cross section of the Sukhoi 30 , Airframe will get several structural changes to the airframe to reduce its radar signature , airframe will also get special radar absorbing paint coat to further reduce its RCS.

All the above features will enable Su 30 to be most modern Sukhoi fighter aircraft until Su-50 aka FGFA enters Indian air force fleet .

AESA is one of the primary requirement of IAF for all future aircraft. Super Sukhoi will have them.

Exactly, the only point that is not fixed yet is which AESA it will be, BARS AESA upgrade or Zhuk AE.

HAL has spend so much time , affert and money to build a infrastructure to fully build this fighter in india...and now it has gone more mature and leathal..
has any relevent to buy a new platfrom under mmrca deal left..?

If they are getting Zhuk AE then FGA 35 should be a better option but dont know if its evailable for export. the FGA 29 version has only 130 Kms range head on.

Seems like the F-15 Silent Eagle. Pakistan should ask US for atleast three squadrons of these silent eagles and a dozen Patriot PAC-3 batteries to balance India's stealth fighters. After all Pakistan is providing transit route for Afghanistan and the US mission there.

How do you know that Cockpit is 4rd generation or 5th generation...i think you don,t know anything about that,so stop useless post my dear friend...jai hind

Are you following the news lately ?

Yes, I do. This is the exact time that we can put up our demands to US or else tell them they can use the transit route to Afghanistan via Iran. Pakistan can not sit around while India is accumulating the most exotic weapons from all over the world. If they can not give us F-35, they can sure give us F-15 as the price of transit. Fair and simple.

The project is still under construction, according to senior wing officers sukhoi pak will be in service in indian airforce by 2018,where HAL shares 50%

both countries are on verge of war and you are demanding F-35 from them !

Hi Dash

Keep in mind that the available specs for the Zhuk AE are based on the Mig 29/35, but the Flanker series has a way bigger nose diameter, which obviously will improve the detection range much more. I still prefer the BARS upgrade, because IAF is happy with it's performance, has good experience with it now, be it by the pilots or the ground crews.
However, I think there could be some Russian political pressure behind the decision, because they obviously have an aim that ll their radar manufacturers get orders and credible fundings for further developments and as it often was reported, Phazotron is struggeling because of the lack of Mig orders. They only have the Mig 29 upgrade from IAF, the Mig 29K orders of Indian and Russian navies and some minor orders from other countries, but even the IAF upgrade get into problems, because of the lack of money to pay their workers. The BARS radar on the other side is developed by NIIP, which sold the radar in high numbers to us, Malaysia and Algeria + develops the radars for Su 35/34 and the future Pak Fa/FGFA in high numbers as well.
Remember NIIP also offered the BARS 29 radar for the Mig 29 upgrade as well and many experts were surprised when IAF chose the Zhuk ME, although the BARS was at least as good and offered high commonality to MKIs radar. Lets see what happens...
