Super Su-30MKI: From Air Dominance To Air Supremacy

That's Pak Fa

:) Thanks and no, I am more interested in learning, reading and discussing stuff about avionics/fighter tactics/fighter industry etc, than in beeing popular.
Sorry for asking a personal question From which state of India you belong to?

The upgrade is not fixed yet and is planned only for 2015 and beyond. The first 2 will be supplied from Russia, while the 40 new and the upgrade of older MKIs to the same level will be done by HAL.
I feel that they might be experimenting what can be possible and it will take little bit to get to the final package, and yes 20 billion means something really nice. Forget about others but SU MKI and Rafale will be enough of challenge.

I think it has to do with our usually high demands, their usually high costs and possibly because the Russians are still at the begining in the developments of AESAs or more advanced engines. Integrating Brahmos should be easier than integrating AESA for example.

.
The nose cone on the MKI is massive

The 2 egines give massive Power.#

These factors combined mean Russia & india SHOULD be able to build a MASSIVE LONG RANGE AESA radar . Prehaps as much as twice the range of the current PESA at a MUCH faster processing speed.

I have herd the PROCESSING speed of data between AESA & MSA radars is ten fold and five fold over PESA.

CAN YOU IMAGINE a TVC fighter like mki armed with 10 BVRS including RAMJETS with a 400km AESA radar on board

ITS mind boggling BUT could be happening soon

A Flanker can currently carry up to 10 x BVR missiles and with the additional weight of Ramjet propulsions it might be further limited, but the bigger issue is, that you can't fire a missile at 400 Km range, not even at 100Km because of the no escape zone.
Imo the change to AESA is mainly a benefit for the lower operating costs compared to the PESA radar, otherwise the available BARS is more than good enough for our requirements. More useful would be the reduction of MKIs radar, IR or EM signatures and to increase the jamming or general defence capabilities.

.
^^ i think flanker can carry 4 BVR and 4 to 6 WVR missiles

.
Plz delete that image mate of su 35 as it's more likely to be su 33 as it got canards .........

SU 35 has canards but not SU 35 BM aka last flanker

thus the flanker in image can be SU 35

Just checked some configs once again and it seems that a BVR missile can be carried at the external wingstation as well:

Astra-11.jpg

That would give a maximum load of 10 x BVR missiles + 2 x wingtip WVR missiles.

Here is a config with 8 x BVR and 4 x WVR missiles:

And to come back to the topic again, it will be interesting to see if the MKI will get ECM pods at the wingtips like some Chinese or Russian Flankers too:

Super Su-30MKI: From Air Dominance To Air Supremacy

Come 2012 the first batch of 50 Sukhoi Su-30MKI multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA), which were delivered to the Indian Air Force (IAF) between 2001 and 2003, will be shipped back to Russia’s IRKUT Corp in Irkutsk where they will be refurbished and upgraded from into formidable air supremacy MRCAs (to be called Super Su-30MKI), and delivered back to the IAF starting 2014.

Did the 50 su-30 send to Russia to upgrade by now?
Is the 109 billion including these 50 SU-30 and the 40 new Super Su-30MKI?

Thanks
AJ

Those returned SU 30's are being sold as second hand jets to other countries, the deal for the 40 super MKI's will be signed during Putin's visit to India.

Thanks for your replay, But in my understanding the 50 aircrafts that was sold, are SU-30 from the first batch that send to India, these 50 aircrafts that send to Russia for upgrade, are SU-30MKI and they will be back to India in 2014.
Are these the same aircrafts or its 2 different deals in 2 different time?

Thanks
AJ

The Super Sukhoi's will be new aircrafts, the returned aircrafts are not meant to be upgraded or to be returned to India.

India set to buy 40 Super Sukhoi jets for $3.5 bn - Indian Express

"The 18 Su-30s previously used by India and then returned, are in an aviation repair plant in Belarus and are on sale to potential buyers," said Alexander Fomin, deputy director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. He added that the aircraft could be modernized before being sold on.

The first batch Sukhoi MKs were returned to Russia and not upgraded to MKI. The MKI is a substantially different bird. Apart from the additional canards and TVC engines. Seems that the lot of MKs were re-sold to Indonesia, Algeria etc.

.
Thanks for that. But my Q is for the first batch of SU-30MKI that as per 1000kv (1st post) send to Russia for upgrade, and will be back in 2014. On top of that we have the new deal for 42 aircrafts.
Are we agree on that?
And if we are, is the price of 110 billion is for both deals?

Thanks
AJ

.
in a pakistan india face off on a full scale these fighters will be of no use as a single nuclear strike on or near the base will render all the support systems needed to keep these in the air will be rendered uselss.
