A suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive Wednesday evening near Ulu Mosque in the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa, according to the Bursa Governorship.
Initial indications were that seven people were injured, according to the governorship. The semiofficial Anadolu news agency, however, reported one person had died and six were injured.
The governorship said the attacker was believed to be female.
The explosion follows a warning Tuesday from the U.S. Embassy in Ankara of "credible indications that terrorist groups are seeking opportunities to attack popular tourist destinations throughout Turkey."
Turkey has experienced several terror attacks this year, including a bombing in January in Istanbul that killed at least 10 people, a March 13 bombing in Ankara that killed 34, a March 19 suicide bombing in Istanbul in which at least four people died and a March car bombing in southeastern Turkey that killed seven police officers and wounded 27 others.
Kurdish rebels and ISIS militants have both claimed responsibility for attacks in Turkey
This is so sad. I was looking forward to visit Turkey Next year with my Friends but with recent wave of bombings there they are having second thoughts about it . 2016 has been a bad year for Terrorism for Turkey . Before 2015 I rarely saw terrorist attacks in Turkey but recent couple of years have been very unstable .
My condolences to all my turkish brothers .
