Are you telling me we have no intelligence assets at all in Afghanistan? We can still keep fencing the border and carry out strikes in Afghanistan whenever we receive actionable intelligence. How can MQM be used to counter PPP when MQM won in areas that never voted for PPP? The strategy wasn't based on electoral forms. There were massive nationalist sentiments Sindhis after the judicial murder of Bhutto. APMSO was made to counter PPP's youth wing that owned Karachi University and had dominance into the streets.

No I am sorry, the Army is not the sole occupant of influence in this country. Anyone who thinks that is extremely naive. There are groups of influential politicians, industrialists, media personalities, judges etc who each have their spheres of influence. Sure, on many national factors individuals in the Army can over-rule others, but to hold just them responsible for the mess is childish.

You can continue to believe what you like though, I believed this thread was about the release of Sufi Muhammad, but I see it has turned in to an Army bashing exercise of twitter's proportion. I have no wish to participate in such an endevour.

APMSO was helped by PPP's youth wing in the start, and their main fight was against Jamiat not ppp's student wing. MQM wiped out the vote bank of the religious parties, mostly Jamaat e Islami. They never really made any inroads in to Sindhi territory.

Sure, I am not privy to all the happening of PA leadership so you may indeed be right, but I had relatives who were part of the military operations in Karachi in the 90s. I am just telling stuff I've heard from people closer to ground zero.

But I agree with you that there should be more accountability, and if military rulers, starting from Ayub Khan, had been held accountable, we wouldn't have had the curse of later military rulers and their political pets like Nawaz, Bhutto etc being imposed on us.

My friend it is not just our fault. You have butcher of Kabul sitting in the Afghan Gov at the very moment. Pakistan has already placed an option for Afghan Gov to come to table and negotiate with Taliban, why not take that option and let peace prevail. Secondly it is right to defend Pakistan and Indian foot print in Afghanistan and TTP in control of India is threat to us. Pakistan fought for Afghanistan when soviets invaded, we took in your refugees and what else is there you want Pakistan to do for you. We have always stood with you but you have to understand we cannot kill our selves totally to make your politicians earn some dollars from USA and India. Please don't become a threat for us. We have offered peace take it.

Sufi's release will put Mullah's leadership into question so if he stays hidden he will lose TTP, If he comes out he is a target. I don't see any options left for him.
