I hope China develops an Exportable version of its PL-15 Ramjet BVR Missile and PL-10E High Off Boresight WVR Missiles. Coupled with an Aesa Radar, the jet will be able to hold its own against any 4th gen fighter with good pilot training and have a chance to still detect and engage 5th gen fighters. While the 5th gen fighter maybe able to get the first shot off, the jets lower costs will allow its sensors to figure out the vicinity of the missile shot, take evasive actions and use their Aesa radars to triangulate the enemy force. When the close in, the high energy ramjet missiles and highly maneuverable WVR missiles will allow pilot training and aerodynamic agility to override the advantages of stealth. The jet has to close in for a visual or near visual fight (under 50 km when employing a PL-15 Class weapon) to negate the benefits of stealth. Therefore the Block 3 JF-17 needs to balance a lower RCS (stealthier head on) with a focus for better maneuverability.

Also the JF-17B models can be sold with DRFM pods and Jamming Pods to create "Basic Growler" Aircraft, this will also enhance suitability of JF-17 squadrons in these export markets. 3 B models and 14 A models is a good mix, but the choice is up to the customer. PAF should push to get maintenance and training contracts as the first operators.

For Sudan, the threat of 14 Ethiopian Su-27, Rough elements in Libya, Instability in South Sudan, means a strong air force is needed to protect its borders.

Down the line, a Super-cruising Engine would also expand sales to more nations, as they wouldn't need as many aircraft to do the same missions because the need to land, refuel, and take off again would be decreased.
Add in 2-3 ZDK-03 Awacs upgraded with Ga-N Aesa radars and 2-3 tankers ; then the Jf-17s may be able to mitigate the stealth fighter threat.
