Most of the guns mentioned may be the infamous 'Khattas' or country made pistols unlike in Pakistan where AK 47 comes as standard issue to civilians. I have seen videos of you guys emptying AK 47 ammunition to air at wedding ceremonies enough to fight a small war. Anyways down South in Kerala, guns are still unheard of except in high ranges. In a typical police patrol the only one that carries the gun is the inspector that too most probably a 6 shot revolver.
