Strategic Railway line connecting valley to Jammu region

. .
All this for those ungrateful Kashmiris who will never appreciate no matter what we do for them .

Who cares?

I honestly don't care for anyone who in turn doesn't care for the Indian republic whether they are Kashmiris or some other ethnic group, but this rail is essential for keeping our hold on Kashmir and in turn control the water resources. Do you honestly think Pakistanis support kashmiris because of the whole Ummah thing? Its all about who holds the upper ground and thus the upper hand.

Its called investment. Though they have more freedom than most people thanks to India's soft stance on violent protest we still need Kashmir. Kashmir has water, which the rest of India is dependent on. Why do you think we didn't hand over Kashmir to Pakistan? because we like bigger borders?

.
We have to continue economic, political and social integration of Kashmir with the rest of India. A time will come when there will be a feeling among Kashmiris that kashmir will not survive with out India. But this will take time and our job is to keep these arm chair pseudo secularists intellectuals like Arundhati Roys, Prashant Bhusans(though i support him a lot in his anti-corruption campaign) etc at arm's and ear's length..:taz:

North-East State Capitals on Railway Network by 2017

To adhere to the mandate of North-East Vision 2020, all the state capitals of the North Eastern states, except Sikkim, would be connected with the country's mainstream railways by 2017, a railway official said.

"Assam and Tripura are already connected and other states like Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland will be connected by 2017, but Sikkim is not included in this project," Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) general manager (Construction) Vijaya Kanth told reporters yesterday.

This project was envisaged to implement the proposals of the North East Vision 2020 formulated by North Eastern Council, she said.

"It is a major challenge for NF Railways. Lot of tunnels need to be constructed to fulfil the target as the region is mountainous", she said.

The GM, who attended a review meeting with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Chief Secretary S K Panda at Civil Secretariat here yesterday, said the stretch between Lumding in Assam to Agartala would be converted into Broad Gauge (BG) by 2013 December.

"Insurgency has come down considerably in the NC Hill region in Assam but frequent bandhs often foil the momentum of the construction work", she said.

On the review meeting, the GM said that the progress of the existing rail projects in Tripura came up for discussion.

While the Agartala-Udaipur rail link is scheduled to be completed by 2012, another project- Agartala-Sabaroom will be executed by 2014, she said.

Your name ks "nick_Indian", Kashmiris are as Indian as you. These divionist comments help no one and only perpetuate problems.

On topic- this is AWESOME news!!! As we have seen on past two years- as economic prospects improve violence goes down. Indian J&K was already 5-6 times more prosperous than P0K, this is only going to improve. India really is coming to its own in infrastructure projects- $1 TRILLION in next 5-7 years on infrastructure alone is really going to pay dividends to he economy.

There's a stark difference between the loony fundamentalist jihadis and the genuine Kashmiris, most of them in exile today. Once they return to the valley, these developments will benefit them a lot. Besides, Jammu itself needs more connectivity. Especially in helping mass transport of military equipment.

They will appreciate it once we admit all the atrocities committed as well and give thm justice

What bullcrap! Army has done nothing as atrocities. Most of the time it is the deranged militants who do the dirty work and force people to protest in the name against Army or die. What do common people do? They're forced to do it. After the murder of 2 Kashmiri girls a year ago there was much howling done. Independent agencies found out that Army did nothing; not even rogue soldiers.. the raping and killing was done by some LET jihadis and they had threatened the family to protest against Army or all would be killed.

96% of the cases are like this. This wannabe-liberal face of nonsensical lying has to stop from self-bleeding Indians really.

We need rail connectivity too. But our terrain is too hostile. You know, we could seriously do with an airport. It is a pain in the backside to everytime travel till Bagdogra or Guwahati to catch a flight. Especially in winters. We could do with a regional airport at least if not an international one. Let Assam have the international glamorous airport as its terrain is much more reasonable for large scale aviation development.

.
Bagdogra too will become an International airport soon. I read somewhere that army is looking for an suitable place to lay an airport in Sikkim.

And they will get justice once they are held accountable for the ethnic cleansing of the pandits and for challenging the sovereignity of the Indian state.

Karma is a bi@tch...

.
Its just across LOC and can be cut off by our army and brave mujahids any time we have to just show them green signal.
In the last 60 years you have sent signals once a day. Result : 0

So wake up and smell the coffee.
