Story of Bravery and Betrayal !! _ Revolt of 1857

. . . . . . . .
why would that be?
Railways,Education system and territorial integrity to name a few.

Difficult to say. But had the British not won then, it would have taken us a lot of time to feel once again as one. After the Maratha decline India had been highly divided.
If British not won then we would have Atleast 10 free countries in this subcontinent and a foolish ugly 'Mughal' on our currency Note.

Nope.

Mughals were defeated and was a Maratha Puppet by 1758. They became a British puppet in 1759. :D
We would have been ruled by the Marathas. Or probably a coalition of the Marathas and the Sikhs.

awadh n bihar.

Those areas were Bengal too, that time. That is what I said. Check Bengal presidency. Bengal was divided into pieces in 1905. Only BD left as the true independent descendant of Bengal today.

In the greater scheme of things it was good they won. The country, there wouldnt actually be a country, would probably have remained divided with scores of kingdoms fighting each other.

And also no concept of western democracy, which is what holds it together today. When we gained independence there were more than 500 "princely states", some of whom had to be forcefully integrated because the rulers were unwilling to lose power.
