State Department asks Bangladesh to buy arms from US

Do you know how many of these textiles are actually owned by Pakistanis, if not kindly go and figure.

There are half a dozen very small towel and home textile factories around Dhaka (Narayanganj) and some in the Chittagong export processing zone. I dealt very closely with the Dhaka Chamber back in the day and these folks were just glad to be in Bangladesh at the time Pakistan was going through its worst Electricity crisis in history. In spite of 1971 we did not turn these people away or cause problems. Where would they go? India?

How would it have been if the tables were turned??

Every Pakistani businessman I came across expressed personal amazement on how nicely we treated them (and with Sharafat), being Pakistanis. My personal experience.

Why doesn't BD invest in indigenous arms production? Or even go for joint production with India, and take advantage of your close relationship with them?

As mentioned already - there is plenty of small arms production, as well as mortars, ammunition, specialized logistics vehicles as well as some short range missiles. Eventually longer range missiles and larger naval platforms will be indigenized, all in time, per our qualitative forces needs.

Arming ourselves to the teeth to benefit our army/navy brass is not where our priorities lie. Arms production is not a number one priority in Bangladesh. Human development is.

Bangladesh economy is expanding at the rate of more or less 8 percent and is destined at some point to be a middle income country. This is starkly visible everywhere in Bangladesh and most educated people know the stakes and what we need, which is an educated, technology-conversant workforce right now.

As a small country - producing arms can take a distant, distant, second, third, fourth place....

Hardly any - vast majority of BD textile factories are owned by BD owners.

Exactly.

.
The question is that why does Bangladesh need arms to begin with? Weren't they the "best of friends" with their self proclaimed "savior"? Looks like all is NOT good in the neighborhood...

Why are you saying the N-word? Bangladeshis aren't black, hell I could say I was more black than you considering Jordan isn't far from Africa yet I never say that word. I didn't want to tell the mods about this but something has to be done because this happened with other members before and can be offensive to Black members of this forum and I discourage you from saying this vulgar. @Dubious @waz @Horus If any of you could discourage him from using this word I would be grateful. Also, if you could ban this word as you have banned words such as P A K I, and F*ck,I would appreciate it because I haven't seen a Black member on this forum ever use this and it is a vulgarity.
The word can be used in a degratory way with er at the end. It’s not right when whites use the word because of their history with it... and just because I’m from Bangladesh doesn’t mean you know everything about me

Heres the thing cupcake no they dont want to "make money" they want to counter china and Russia BD is an economic dud but thats a another topic for another thread

The rise of china had caught them so offguard becuase it was so unsuspected i dont think Nixon Clinton and even Bush though in a million years when they were fighting to open china thought china could rival the US in tech military and influence that fact has has been a shock they though much like Taiwan and korea china would open up liberalize and with the help of the internet and freedom on information the ccp would be overthrown and it become a democracy of sorts they never excreted the ccp to hold on to power and china to become an economic gaint that it is now they having an aggressive delayed reaction they also didnt expect an aggressive Russia

and because the Rise of china the Americans will never allow that to happen again they will never allow a country out of there sphere to get a Economic Tech and Military edge (Especially a Muslim one) so you can forget american caring for BD economically or other wise making money of it

You can see Americas aggressiveness when forces countries not to use Chinese products like Hwawie and it warns countries like turkey and Egypt not to buy Russian military equipment and threatens them and i think India will bare the full brunt of it in the future because of how much military equipment Indians buys from Russia and its famous Neutrality Indians are all chummy with the Israelis but they also are a Large investor in Iran with ports like Chabahar they also buy Iranian oil in large amounts dont think the Americans haven't notices just a while ago they forced India to stop buying oil from Venezuela its gonna get wore from now on and its gonna be fun to watch

As for BD buying the F16V i dought it it could happen but i dont think so

A few guns maybe atgms here there MAYBE a few helicopters but thats about it for now

So good luck to BD its gonna be like the British landing in Bengal in the 1500's:lol::lol:
I'm not a CCP fan. I know democracy is very good.
I also hope that China will become a democratic country.
But the West expects China to collapse.
It makes me very unhappy, very very unhappy.
Now I really want to know, If China uses communism to achieve national rejuvenation...
Now China is the world's second largest economy...

No its not right when anyone uses it except Blacks. Nobody likes non-blacks using that word just because you don't know America and how it works doesn't mean you can say it cause your family were never slaves. Say that in America in a group of Blacks and your *** is dead, just trust me.
https://www.quora.com/Can-a-non-African-American-black-person-say-the-n-
A little excerpt from Quora-

Why are people obsessed with saying this “N-word” that they know is extremely hurtful to so many people? No. No. No. It is not okay.

I don't want to hear it from anyone. I agree with the sentiments Dr. Maya Angelou about it being it inappropriate for anyone to toss around. It is sewage no matter whose mouth spews it. It hasn't been reclaimed from its negativity by black people using it. Everyone just gets subjected to more of it. No Americans, no Africans, simply no one should speak that word!

I don't wish to be assaulted by this type of verbal vulgarity daily. There are certain radio stations I actively avoid due to the repeated use of this word and other vulgar language demeaning women and diminishing then who use it as well. It is incredibly sad to me that some black people have jumped into the sewer with those who use this word as a weapon.

No one has reclaimed guns so that they don't injure people when shot at them. Swords still stab and hack flesh. The N-word still causes harm to too many people whether they know it or not. A drug addicted person will do some debasing things to get their next fix, but if they are so far gone that they no longer think about the horror of their life does it make it any less awful?

I do think that if someone Black wants to say it it's fine but as you are not black don't say it.

well guess what? the social dynamics of US and the middle east is very different.
i've black friends who're okay with me using the N word and they use it to refer to me without any bars
the way you speak really reflects the views of people from your community and i'm really dissapointed with the snowflake mentality... people triying to find excuse to get offended at anything
the situation is different... i've not used it in a degratory statement. what's worse is i've been called blackie by some pakistani member a couple of days ago in this website and i didn't see anyone coming to fight for black people's right or racism then... plus no action was taken against him even after i reported it... so, i hope i don't sound rude but don't act like a snowflake

I'm not personally offended as I am the opposite of Black. It's just one Bangladeshi here in America puts on this accent like he's from the hood and says the N-word and stuff and I really find it stupid considering that even Black people tell him to stop but he keeps on going. Your friends wouldn't be offended because they aren't American and the N-word originated in America hence the mentality is different. Think of it as cultural-appreciation from Blacks and hell I myself am conservative and I think this.

Its like this guy, he doesn't look Black at all and says the N word in his songs all day.

What I'm saying is this

Some African-Americans only consider "nigga" offensive when used by people of other races, seeing its use outside a defined social group as an unwelcome cultural appropriation. Used by blacks, the term may indicate "solidarity or affection"] similar to the usage of the words "dude", "homeboy", and "bro". Others consider "nigga" non-offensive except when directed from a non-African-American towards an African-American. Yet others have derided this as hypocritical and harmful, enabling white racists to use the word and confusing the issue over nigger.

Being called darkie is irrelevant. I am called White, Hispanic, etc. Say if an Arab looks white but doesn't identify as white, would he be white?

There is conflicting popular opinion on whether there is any meaningful difference between "nigga" and "nigger" as a spoken term.[5] Many people consider the terms to be equally pejorative, and the use of "nigga" both in and outside black communities remains controversial.[6] H. Lewis Smith, author of Bury That Sucka: A Scandalous Affair with the N-word, believes that "replacing the 'er' with an 'a' changes nothing other than the pronunciation"[7] and the African American Registry notes, "Brother (Brotha) and Sister (Sistah or Sista) are terms of endearment. Nigger was and still is a word of disrespect."[8] The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights group, condemns use of both "nigga and "nigger".[5]

I’m sure you know how ubiquitous this word is used amongst non black youth.

Why take such a stand here and now?

LOL desis in the NYC area use this every third word.

At least before getting older and even then occasionally.

In any case listening to Nas will definitely make this word a part of your vocabulary.

.
The N word is colloquial among African-Americans. Its use is almost proprietary within their community.
In my younger days I have been to Miami Beach a number of times for weekend activities ! Interestingly, the F (F***ot) word is often used by the gay men community just as same as the N word is used among the African-American community. All hell will break lose if anyone else utter that word.

Well the word has its origin in another region and language and was used by the whites of America in a degratory way in America and later adopted by he blacks as a sign of strength but whatever...
well not all of my black friends but a few are from America... but yeah... cba

Well what gives someone the right to use the word? His color of skin or origin? Because I’ve known a lot of black people who have been crucified for using the word because they don’t look black... so again, as long as it’s used among friend circles and not strangers, and as long as everyone is okay with it, we shouldn’t be the snowflakes telling people what they can use or not

Theres been huge debates about this before especially in the early 90's regarding its widespread use in hip/hop music.

I think we've pretty much moved past all that and now it is what it is.
