What's new

State Department asks Bangladesh to buy arms from US

within BD forces there is a very big dissatisfaction with Chinese arms specially with after sales service.
I had first hand experience on it
Another BS smearing. I have my source of info. It always BD wanted to squeeze Chinese contractor dry with best service support and yet not willing to pay the sum required that result in delay. The article already mention, high rocket price of US contractor and after sales support is an nightmare especially spare parts. There is a reason why BD turns to China. China can offer superior weapon but can u afford in the first place?

China can offer BDN brand new Yuan class AIP sub but u turn to old refurbished 035G Ming becos u cannot afford the new Yuan AIP.

.
I think you are not that far off.

USA does want to have a degree of control over BD and getting BD to buy F-16Vs would allow them to do just that.
However, I also think they just want to make money from a 300 billion US dollar economy that is growing at 8% a year. Remember even the USA needs to be able to make money and if they can get BD into the US weapons "eco-system" they stand to make 10s of billions of US dollars over the next 2-3 decades.
Heres the thing cupcake no they dont want to "make money" they want to counter china and Russia BD is an economic dud but thats a another topic for another thread

The rise of china had caught them so offguard becuase it was so unsuspected i dont think Nixon Clinton and even Bush though in a million years when they were fighting to open china thought china could rival the US in tech military and influence that fact has has been a shock they though much like Taiwan and korea china would open up liberalize and with the help of the internet and freedom on information the ccp would be overthrown and it become a democracy of sorts they never excreted the ccp to hold on to power and china to become an economic gaint that it is now they having an aggressive delayed reaction they also didnt expect an aggressive Russia

and because the Rise of china the Americans will never allow that to happen again they will never allow a country out of there sphere to get a Economic Tech and Military edge (Especially a Muslim one) so you can forget american caring for BD economically or other wise making money of it

You can see Americas aggressiveness when forces countries not to use Chinese products like Hwawie and it warns countries like turkey and Egypt not to buy Russian military equipment and threatens them and i think India will bare the full brunt of it in the future because of how much military equipment Indians buys from Russia and its famous Neutrality Indians are all chummy with the Israelis but they also are a Large investor in Iran with ports like Chabahar they also buy Iranian oil in large amounts dont think the Americans haven't notices just a while ago they forced India to stop buying oil from Venezuela its gonna get wore from now on and its gonna be fun to watch

As for BD buying the F16V i dought it it could happen but i dont think so

A few guns maybe atgms here there MAYBE a few helicopters but thats about it for now

So good luck to BD its gonna be like the British landing in Bengal in the 1500's:lol::lol:

Why you some Pakistanis always show such a crude jealousy and bitterness of Bangladesh's garments export ? I see it everywhere. Bangladesh is not the reason you are failing to become a top garments exporter, but your jealousy to Bangladesh is a classic case of mean minded peoples.
No we dont show a "crude jealousy and bitterness of Bangladesh's garments export" we dont care about Bangladesh and it people its you Lungi wearing retards come posting random shit braging about your non existing economic prowess on a PAKISTANI FORUM that we are even aware of your existence

You got it wrong, why would we Pakistanis would be jaelous, yes this is only a mirror showing nothing else for all the chest thumping bengladeshis on so called growing economies. Do you know how many of these textiles are actually owned by Pakistanis, if not kindly go and figure.

Why doesn't BD invest in indigenous arms production? Or even go for joint production with India, and take advantage of your close relationship with them?

When it comes to reliance, the U.S really can't be trusted. Their only true allies are fellow Anglo-centric countries. They will never treat you as a true friend as you are Asian, and only to be used against their enemies, then thrown to the dogs.

BD is investing in indigenous arms production but sorry no need to tie up with India.

Currently it makes all sort of small arms and light warships in house.

Next big move is to produce next gen frigate in BD shipyard from early next year.

Hardly any - vast majority of BD textile factories are owned by BD owners.

Well Bangladesh wont be able to buy fighters from Russia for sure circumventing USA sanction. China which is also under sanction after buying S-400. Only choice left for BD for fighter procurement is Europe or USA. I am sure USA will be more than happy to sell F-16 or f-18 t Bangladesh.
Regarding C-130s that we asked for are EDA's not brand new. They only give away EDA's once their own demand for spares are met as well as demand from other allies.

I am aware that the C130s are not new, i mentioned it in the previous post in the thread. The talk of purchasing it came in 2011 and was formally requested in 2012. It has been 7 years since we requested it, however, we did not get it. It the meantime, Ethiopia, Niger, Philippines, Chile, etc has gotten them in this time period. I seriously doubt it is a matter of payment or availability.

As for the sanctions, we have to wait and see how effective is CAATSA first. So far close allies of USA, such as Turkey, Egypt, etc seems to be paying no heed, to it. Plus, should we really abandon our own interests, esp with china just to please the US. IMO, Bangladesh should try to maneuver itself in these political climate, instead of just bowing down to US

What you say has some validity but USA knows it can make a LOT of money from BD over the next few decades.
Yes, BD cannot really use US aircraft against India, but I cannot see this as being an issue with Myanmar.
At the end of the day, BD should stay away from US as it can get similar aircraft from Sweden in the Gripen.

True BD has a huge potential in the future for arms industry. This is why weapons manufacturers from emerging countries(Turkey, Indonesia) are looking towards BD. Unless US provides arms and tech that are not matched by other offers, i think it is best to stay out of the reach of their weapons industry. To me, once a country buys their weapons they kinda throw a tantrum when they are not allowed to dictate the countries government policies.

. .
BD has to listen to US , shake a few hands , nod appropriately, etc...

I believe there is zero chance of US jets for BAF. Russian option provides the safest course of action in the medium term.

.
2 will be built in china, 6 in bd...
constructions to start simultaneously
also the cost for the locally built ones will be significantly less

i wonder if they will be newly built ones or from the surplus?
niggas even promised f18s from the surplus but later put them back to service with the marines.
probably because bengalis were haggling like this FM nigga. bruh you ain't buying some eggplants at your local bazaar... you can negotiate but not haggle and keep saying "sell it to us for cheap"
Why are you saying the N-word? Bangladeshis aren't black, hell I could say I was more black than you considering Jordan isn't far from Africa yet I never say that word. I didn't want to tell the mods about this but something has to be done because this happened with other members before and can be offensive to Black members of this forum and I discourage you from saying this vulgar. @Dubious @waz @Horus If any of you could discourage him from using this word I would be grateful. Also, if you could ban this word as you have banned words such as P A K I, and F*ck,I would appreciate it because I haven't seen a Black member on this forum ever use this and it is a vulgarity.

Who are interested in being tagged when I do drop by and decide to rip a new one into the big mouths from BD?

All I could get from article is the minion was asked ..... at the assistant secretary level, actually you can understand how serious that offer is.

Well considering how they keep propagating those GDP and bla bla stuff here, I had assumed that Trump would have called Haseena to offer her some toys (you can imagine the type of toys you wish for her).

“At the assistant secretary level they asked 'why don’t’ you buy defence products from us? You buy them from other countries',” he said on being asked about his visit after his meeting with Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering.

And interestingly he is telling all this to his media after meeting Bhutanese PM. Well ...... priorities...... and the emotional fools here are all jubilant.
