Why anyone has to force his own belives on others?? Please be noted that I am not talking about Hinudism only.. Every religion has corrupted by some narrow minded people.. buddhists of slanka are hindus even today.they are big worshippers of lord ganesha.many srilankan buddhists visit tirupati every year.rajapakse very recently visited tirupati for darshan.srilankan cricket players in 95 went to putta parthi sai baba for blessings.they have sanskrit names unlike buddhists of other nations.srilankan buddhists are very much hindus like indians.

The theory is the entire Sub continent was a group of small kingdoms with pre dominent Hinduism faith uptill the Mauryan Empire n ur the one who is contradicting it so its upto u to prove it wrong plus its about ur own country.

I don't know whats the problem with our neighbours in accepting their roots we aren't asking u guys to convert or something. U urself know about the Vijaya Empire, there was always a strong connection between the South Indian states n SL in ancient times n SL has even been under control of various South Indian empires like Pandayas n the Cholas.

I rem few months before on this very forum a Sri Lankan was not ready to believe that Buddha was a Hindu by birth...

Besides South Indians were never called Melechha it was just a term used in Bhavishya Purana to denote people residing west of Saraswati River basically who didn't belong to Aryawata(India) n were uncivilized people.

How you define the Hindu faith? IAFIK you people tend to see anything that linked to India or Indian in origin before the known times to be Hindu in religion. Maybe that because you people think that Hindu religion has so many forms. But that does not count here.

Also why you only going to the Mauryan times. What about the times before that? Wasn't there any religion called Buddhism prior to that?

The thing is that you only try to see the past with Hindu perspective. You cannot label everything Hindu.

That doesn't count cuz no Indian dynasty could hold the island for no more than a century. Hence they couldn't impose their faiths on Sinhalese.
