Sri Lankan economy grows by 6.8%

Confused!:pissed:

Which one we believe..?? @kurup

The data by world bank , afaik , is for the year 2012 and not for the fiscal year 2012-2013 .

In 2012 , we grew by 3.2% according to world bank and in fiscal year 2012-2013 , we grew by 3.986% .

At close to 7% growth it looks like we will reach the Government's target of $4000 per capita (PPP$ 8000) before the stated target time of 2016.

It is wonderful to have a Government leading the nation that actually understated their goal!

.
The data is correct . According to world bank , India had the slowest growth rate in south asia at 3.2% for 2012 .

Hopefully growth picks up in India! Maybe if you get Modi he will do what MR did for Sri Lanka.

Yep we are doing well, but can do better. We need to target a steady growth rate of 7.5% for at least 10 years, we need to achieve way more then what we have. In fact our currency is appreciating against a basket of currencies such as the dollar, so the Bangladesh Bank is consistently buying greenbacks to regulate the exchange rate, they are sitting on a pile of virtual dollars.

In the near future with diversification in our industry with more manufactured goods and services, I think we will be one of the star performers. Wish us luck.
